Sys 36 is not the fool proof way. But it's the best we have. At least the handicap is computed based on the day's score. And if u have birdies and eagles, u deserve to win.

This is much much better than someone who declare handicap 22 and come back 13 under.

Just my thoughts

I agree, I rather someone deserving and wins with lots of pars/birdies, than someone who wins with over Stableford 40 points and declared a 24 hcp

For me personally, System 36 (to ascertain competition hcp) combined with Stableford scoring method is the way for me.

There was once I played in a competition which the winner had 42 points off System 36 Stableford, and he was cheered on!  I believe this guy really deserves it that day.

42 points on sys 36 stableford is very very diff. This means he would have played 6 under, possibly 6 birdies without a single triple. Double is ok.

Well done to him.

Sad to say, not much. Organizers sometimes used the modified stableford points system with blind holes but even that you can totally eliminate the abc from taking advantages....

Gents,

Took a quick look at the handicap book and did a quick search for the top few players scoring high 40s stableford points at the SAF day tournament at NSRCC and its sad.

One player had only submitted scores of 93-100 but played 81 at the tournament.

Another player has been submitting cards regularly for a few months with scores around 89-97, but played 78 at the tournament.

Maybe its time for local clubs to published both the names of the winner and their pictures.
Shouldn't the winner be proud of his achievement and be shown some form of recognition. I am quite curious to see who these people are.

the last tournament before this SAF day event the overall winner came back with a stableford points of 51. Try beating that. The guy should be castrated. Such low form of being.

The next question: what the club is going to do to deal with sandbagging?

Seems like these things happen in almost every local tournament if ranking is based on declared hcp. even if nsrcc is brave enough n decided to do something, wonder if it will help bcos such practices are so common in local scene.

Not too sure about NSRCC.  In the club where I play, you will notice that at the next update of hcp adjustment, the winners will find that they have new 'improved' handicaps which will more or less eliminate them from the next few tournaments.  Sadly, there are others that will come in to take over their places...

 Not that la.

I just notice in one tournament that a player whom i had played before won and at the next adjustment, I saw that he hcp was cut.
