I started playing beginning of this year. I would spent more time observing how golfers(sometimes the PRO) play at the range than me hitting the ball. If you are lucky you may get tips from some friendly uncles at the range. I went for my 1st 18 holes game two months later, score 130+ and lost about 10 balls. Sad

Today, I am able to play a decent game. For me, it is the process that is challenging. I am interested to find out how far can one go without a coach. 18 is not my age, it is what i hope to be able to achieve. tongue

That's because guys always want to swing hard and fast, technique is secondary Laughing

Also why guys tend to slice the ball more than women, cuz turn too early and swing over the top.

But boys will be boys, ain't that right fellas? cheers

i'm a self taught golfer! but i highly recommend getting lessons though.. dunno how many times i've found fatal flaws in the swing. clubface too closed, grip too weak, too much movement side to side.. haha

when i first step into the golf course i dint really lose balls. maybe couple of holes then lose 1 couple of holes lose 1.. maybe after 18 holes lose 5 or 6?..

u guys may think i dint lose many.. think i very pro le. but hor.. my score per hole when first starting can be like triple bogey. double par!.. damm lousy.. at times 10 stroke per holes..

now sometimes maybe after 18 holes lose 1 or 2 balls only.. reason? .. always chiong chiong chiong... chiong till OB.. .. or i wanna chiong across water. Sad..

i last time got coach. attend 1 full lesson of 10. then stop liao.. then i train on my own..

Yeah, qualified swing instructors and coaches knows the fundamentals and entirety of the golf swing.

If you seek advice from friendly uncles at the range they can only show you so much, and usually try to adjust a certain factor of your swing that works for theirs.

But one swing doesn't fit all, so to speak. Smile

agree.

I must admit that I do listen to the people around me but I also do 'twweek' it a lil' to suit me.

there's also alot of 'experimenting' to be done for u to find your own comfort zone.

thats why some of the pros have very unique swings ..+D kinda cool really.
