No prob folks. Lets move on.

I dun really miss a forum as it is the ppl inside that makes a diff.
But in toons there are more general volunteers to help be it making shirts or organising tournaments. Would like to see more of these ppl.

Agree. For a forum to flourish, people has to feel a sense of belonging and start taking responsibility of the forum. To achieve that, moderators should take a more hands off approach. I acknowledge the effort the moderators had put in in this forum, but at times, i feel that there are too much baby sitting. For example, moderators organizing games and outings may not necessary be a good thing as it would encourage members to be reliant on the moderators to organize things.

Also, too much censorship is never good as it takes away the character of the forum. Granted that there are children and ladies in the forum, but do you want a forum where people only behave in a way that conforms to what the society accepts? Just like Singapore, although we are known to be the best in many areas, we are often criticize for lacking character and color. Is this something the forum wants?

Next, whats your objective for the forum? Do you want this to be a forum for like minded people to get to know each other? or merely a forum to promote golf in Singapore? Although they sound similar, they are actually very diff. Toonshouse objective is more geared towards the former while GR is more to the later. This is why people feel that TH is more entertaining.

Lastly, moderators are the most impt in the forum. They are like the captain of a ship, giving direction to where the ship shall sail towards to. IMO, a moderators should be credible, impartial, neutral and should never post something that adds fuel to the fire. In this respect, i feel that MC has done a fantastic job. Nevertheless, i do acknowledge that the moderators here have put in alot of effort and have generally done a good job as seen by the number of testimony except for one.

JAT.

Disclaimer: The above is nothing personal.

I disagree. If you think that moderators are the most important in the forum, then I'm afraid you don't know what a forum is. The most important aspect of any forum are the users.

Therein lies the confusion, and frustration.

Actually, this thread is for people to reminisce about the good times in Toonshouse... strangely...there are more posts from the moderators/admin than member... this is really uniquely GR...

Firstly, I find it hard to believe that your post was intended solely to reminisce about the good times in Toonshouse. I'm not saying that you had no good times there. I'm sure you did, but I think it's a little uncalled for given that you know that it will surely spark issues which had arisen recently.

You must know that people are just cooling off over a recent debacle and the situation remains calm but a little tense. I can't help but feel that your post was intended to shake the ground a little and the reaction was not unexpected.

In any event, how can you not expect the mods/admin to reply? They aren't replying directly to your points but to the other posts which have littered this thread. If you think that it's inappropriate for the mods/admin to reply and we should remain silent, then it's a no-win situation, right? If we reply, we get criticized. If we don't reply, we concede.

You may not be aware but the admins/mods (perhaps not me since I'm new) invest a lot of personal time and resource in managing the forum. It's not easy, bro. I don't want to belabor the point since I will be accused of posting a self-praising post. But I do challenge anyone who wants to give it a shot. It's a tough responsibility and they aren't complaining. The least anyone can do is to either:

1. Thank them for their efforts; or
2. If you don't like what they're doing, don't say anything (going back to the saying, "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all")

As for defending the forum, this is what I've been told before and I've heard many times since: One should never go over to his neighbors house and talk about how great his own house is (or was, for that matter). It's unbecoming and impolite.

Siaw8 i do agree that members would get overly reliant on moderators to organise events for them but unfortunately we do not have enough ppl to organise such games. The logistics involved in coordinating avg of 60 ppl for the game is really too much for most ppl and we cannot really expect many to come forward.

I would have helped organise it even if i am not a moderator. During the th days where none of us are really anybody, we had been organising stuff but some of them were probably before you joined. You must foremost remember that we are members of the forum first. Whatever we do, we do as a member. Moderations or admin work are secondary duties. The games are organised By us wearing the member hat as no moderating requirements are needed for it.

We would of course be very happy if members volunteer to help or chip in. Who8168 helped us negotiate the price for the legends game. It may be only a small part of work but we do appreciate as well.

If you find that moderators are too active, you have to remind yourself that we are normally posting wearing a member hat. We are in the moderating team because we are active forum members and not vice-versa. Look around and take a look at everyone. All of us have the colored nick simply because we are active members who are willing to put in extra efforts. If someone is consistently helping us in organising events or participate actively, it wouldnt be long when we approah them to be moderators. That's the reason why you feel that mods do everything.

I'll use techno as an example. If you think that he is flooding and defensive and need to have a say in all the threads because he is a mod, then i can say you are wrong. He was already hyperactive in the forum for mths before becoming a volunteer and then moderator. That is just him and his style.

shotah,

i personally apologise to that..
i admit that i always push sunny to make calls to other mods to work on forum stuff. I dont make calls on my own, cos i feel i dont speak the same language as the boys sometimes, so its better for their friends to speak to them..

i hope you dont take this personally. i will work towards the goal to "be a man".

Now why was the moderators so defensive, were they worried that the people from the TGM side pull off from the forum or they worried that they wouldn't support their charity.

Let me put things clear to you on this issue/s William.

I was against TGM's postings here all those while. I have had my disagreements and quarrels with Sunny and Moon regarding this issue. I questioned them why he is allowed to do this and that. End of the day, I had to reluctantly bite my tongue on this issue initially and only when I took a step back and saw the big picture, I had to agree that targeting a certain individual only belittles every other else in the same profession. Do we have to tell everyone that mods do get into arguments about issues here too? If we don't announce it, are we not 'being a man'?

Same for the Stanley issue. I support BFG wholeheartedly. It doesn't mean I have to go against other clubfitters. That was why I posted my reply to apologise, call for truce and carry on in the thread to him. If you think I am wrong by waking up my idea and seeing things sensibly, then there's nothing much I can do about it.

So MT doing that redbull impression and posting nonsense there is okay since the great idea originated from ppl related to Ikasu and Proto match?

Rex.. i think you should just keep your mouth shut because you do nothing but add fuel to every single fire.

Stop your "be a man" thing, becoz if you are man enough, you should take responsibility of what you had done and step down from your mod position as all the unhappiness in the forum is partly started becoz of you. Who is the one who instigated people to flame TGM? and who is the one who change his position subsequently and started playing the good guy?

I can understand where Sunny is coming from. At least, he posts facts and is prepared to have a gentleman discussion. Maybe, his style of management needs abit of getting used to but at least, one can feel that he is putting in a effort and really cares for the forum.

Moon, i respect her. Always trying to cool things down.

MC, i think mods should behave like him.

Tchno, always have a few good advices.

Btw, like i have said before this thread has no malicious intent at all. Why are you insisting it has? are you feeling guilty of something? Btw, i have not taken any potshot against the forum so please stop fueling all the animosity. Whats your intent?

Lastly, if you feel that we are not welcome here. Please say it here. BE A MAN!!

Bro, i really have nothing against you. Perhaps, you might want to put yourself in my shoes. A thread started to chit chat about good times, turned into a battle ground. How would you feel?

For you, golf, tcss and drink beer anytime. You are one funny guy and i do enjoy the game we had. How? give me 18 18 can?

Rex.. i think you should just keep your mouth shut because you do nothing but add fuel to every single fire.

BE A MAN!!

Add fuel? Sorry man, if you think I like to create animosity here, why r u guys the one complaining with sacarstic remarks?

I am not guilty of anything. Like I said, I am the one who wasn't happy with the TGM issue. I still am not. I have since clarified w Sunny on the issue and he told me that doing that is no good for the forum if it goes public. I have accepted the fact and we are cool about it. Trying to be the good guy now and tryin to help sanitise this place has made u guys feel that I have played u guys out? Ha, ok then.

I do not need to take advice from you. If Sunny and Moon thinks I can't do a Moderator's job properly, I am happy to relinquish the position. This position has made me more enemies than friends and frankly, I rather play and talk golf but I can honestly say that I did what I believed in, albeit eaten my words a few times and I hope what I have contributed in writing makes this place better.

Whether you are welcome here or not, you can always start another voting thread since you are so apt at doing.

Oh, constructive posting: I miss TH, but that was when friendship was new and we din really understand each other as it was abruptly shut down. GR has made us see how we really are and who r the real friends. Those that help promote the game here and look past all the minor differences or those who like to complain about stuff all the time.

why everyone so serious... look on the bright side lah... you dont need to win every argument right...

at the end of the day, for all that is said and done, i have no malicious thoughts against anyone... sunny may be abit anal and difficult to communicate him, but end of the day u ask me whether i hate him, i dont hate him what.. i just like to irritate him cos it gets on his nerves..

and if rex thinks that this episode has shown us what is friends etc... come on la, i am sure everyone is still friends, u mean u only base it on what we do online? very sad and disappointed that my friends only jjudge my worthiness of their friendships based on our online actions.

end of the day, look at the amount of discussion this thread has brought about... it just means everyone is interested in this topic. as a web-board, if your members are interested in a certain topic, why dont u just allow them to chat in this topic?

i can easily say most successful and viable forum in singapore is sammyboyforum... look at the way it is run, managed, etc. still got people scolding each other etc, but mods do not step in unless absoluitely necessary...

anyway all that is said and done, my life does not change even if this forum is dead or alive. i will just have one less place to visit on the web.

take it easy guys. u don't live or die from all this stuff..

MT, I am just disappointed in all that has happened. From your prank which really made me eat my words bad from supporting you to now everyone of u thinking I'm the bad guy cos I see things from a different point of view after a few discussions with the Admin. That is the irony of it all.

Ur postings up until the last one has been very bitter-sounding and it is making every mod here uneasy. Whether you do it just to irritate Sunny oni like you said or becos u r still really sore w us or like Siaw8 put it, me, then I hope it is all just a 'let it out and carry on' thing.

I am not the one pushing ppl away. Amongst all, you and shotah contributed alot to this forum in ur own ways. If you all see that becos of the UL thread, your prank, that all these has happened, then it really shows everyone here what kind of a person one is when one post.

I am based overseas now. I have no time or intention to cook up conspiracies and mastermind any funny plots to spice things up. U think its easy to do PR stuff and reply to all these insults like what Siaw8 just shot me at 3am in the morning? I do it cos I feel a sense of responsibility to this forum. If you guys think I'm the bad guy now and play the 'dun fren u' game cos I changed my tune, then I think that this web board really reveals all.

I can't win my argument against you guys. I just hope u all dun turn it into a twisted gossipy 'truth' just due to a lack of information.

Rex, you know u and I always have the same thinking when it comes to the game, we help each other and try to imrpove each others game. Thats why i was pissed during that TGM issue. Why am I pissed, because you supported something even if you didnt agree. Whats the big picture? I don't know, I always thought those who knows abit more will help those beginers in the forum. Like you help me, I help others kind of deal, in a way, that will promote golf as a whole.

But it didnt happen... some others feel that we shouldn't do this to him in the forum. Whats wrong if i ask for someone's credentials. Yes, since now you say SH can vouch for it fine, but why wasn't this brought out previously. And ended up certain things being del or edited? Yes, some might say that we shouldn't do this to someone who is offering free advise. Yes, i agree, but what if the advice may lead to injuries or even worsen other peoples game. Then we as lovers of the game allow this to happen? Not to people i treat as friends though. People who knows me knows that frdship to me is important unless that person disappoint me time and time again.

I think i have said my fair share and Rex, I think although we know each other for just a short period of time, you should know me slightly better than most of the guys here. And you know my character, straight to the point, no bending around corners kind of S@%T. Maybe its offensive but I am what I am, change myself to fit the forum world, no way hoseh, principals are more important that forums who help me kill time or a place that i can get good deals. Enough said....

From now on, its just the market place I will visit and if anybody is interest in Ikasu CBs heads only from 4-PW, please contact me.

This is very close to defamation, including your accusation that i started this thread with malicious intend. Are you implying that i am a troublemaker?

For a start, i DID NOT insult you. I am upset because i started the thread to provide an avenue for ex-toonshouse members to reminisce the good old times. That doesn't mean that i am implying that GR is bad. Both forums have their pros and cons. like what Moon said, we can miss TH and love GR. Why can't you be abit more open minded?

Next, the reason why i started the thread was due to the meeting i had with CCC earlier on where we had a wonderful time talking about all the witty ikasu review. I just thought that such a thread would bring some live to the forum and allow people to talk about something else other than golf. Then, you guys started to get sensitive and defend every single negative comments. You know, there is really no need to because it will just worsen things. Rightfully, it happens and this is what i am upset with. Sometimes, you just have to let people say what they want and if it is not true, it will just die off. We live in a real world and we can't expect everyone to agree on the same thing. We have to learn to agree to disagree.

Btw, please comb through all my posts and extract those which you feel that i am troublemaking. I will apologize on them. Nevertheless, my stand from the start is clear - this is Sunny's forum. He is free to do whatever he wants. If i dun like it, i will just stay away. If i want to stay here, i will just have to accept it as it is. Thus you may see, i have not been posting much ever since the earlier incident. As such, if you are unable to find any posts which i am guilty of troublemaking, please apologize.
