Your suggestion is quite gd. I think myself, missmoon and a few other mods had mentioned what we see the forum in the future but never really in a consolidated post.

Let me consult the rest of our team and we come out with something official.

Thanks for your suggestion

... Contrary to your beliefs, the mods do not like moderating. We are in this forum to make friends and not enemies. We also wish to enjoy ourselves, have a gd game of golf and in our spare time improve the forum. You can help by looking at the rules and regulations and abide by them. I do not feel that the rules are unusually strict. If you find a rule to be too strict, put it up for discussion in the suggestion forum.

For those who dislike us or the forum, I thank you for your previous participation and contribution and i hope you will find a forum that suits you. We do want to make this forum a premier golf forum with a wealth of golf related knowledge and it is inevitable that they are people who disagree with us and our directions. I would like to express my gratitude to the many of you who had given us lots pf encouragement and support.

Sunny, this post of yours makes the most sense to me.

I made friends in TH and visiting BFG put faces in those nicks. The same people here were from there which closed down.

If MT thinks those with a wealth of knowledge has chosen not to post or visit GR anymore, I thank them for their time they were here and helped build up GR to what is is today.

I might have lost a few of these friends with the incident last week but hey, life's too short for me to be petty about stuff like this. like I mentioned, I would like to think of this forum as a meeting platform for all golfers in Sg, not as a kopishop gathering where colourful talk is prevalent like what it was in TH. There are many places I see that are already like that. However, we try and cater to balance both types of people so the Admin are constantly working on what they can do on a forum with some limitations.

With regards to suggstions. We always take them seriously. I think Locking the announcment of suggestion thread is good because it encourages people to create a new topic shd they feel strongly about something. We are also getting pms of some great ideas from forumers who you never knew had such wonderful ideas despite them not having 1000+postings or not.

Granted the lelonging here is growing but you will always meet all sorts of people everywhere, even in golf. However, 1 thing here about the marketplace which I think makes it somewhat better despite a few bad apples is that you can somehow buy with confidence. Previously, I dare not even consider buying an item in TH before because you never know who those ghost sellers are, the condition of the item and more imptly, whether it was a real or fake product.

End of the day, TH might have its great stuff and all but the lack of direction is probably its demise. I want to applaud Sunny and Moon for their great ideas and keeping this place going. Contrary to someone that thinks we oni talk alot, we also play alot of golf and org games here too.

Please mind your language, GR had never forced anyone to buy anything. So how can it be commercialized. And cant understand your term as so call "goodies". You can come over my place for goodies during the CNY. Got lots of them, FOC for you.

Woo.. I guess I'm one of the rare ppl who are still around...

No point comparing the 2 forums... they are different cause both are hosted with different ideas.

ToonsHouse was cool but since it's gone now we should just move on....

Nothing can replace TH and I don't think GR mods are trying to either...

Definitely miss toonhouse.... even the name is unique. GR is good but can never beat the original....

Think toonhouse more participation from more ppl.
GR feels 'cliquey' and ppl seems to post replies just for the sake of chalking up no. of posts.... then again, Toonhouse may've been the same if it was there........coz many from toonhouse. Smile Just my opinion.

Rex,

I thought I should not be bothered by all these anymore, but I read your comment with some concerns, perhaps from a lost fren. Loosing frens along our life journey is just part of the journey, but it is the way we loose them that matters. Frens dun need to always agree, nor do they need to blindly support each other's actions. But frenships need to be built through mutual trust and respect.

I remember reading something like this: "We are not defined by who we think we are, but by those around us." Hopefully this means something worthy to you as it is to me.

Lastly, I do wish you well in your future endeavours.

Sam

Let me get this right. Rex lost friends over incidents relating to this forum? Sure, I have no idea what transpired but I think that friendships which are lost in such a silly fashion may not be strong friendships in the first place.

This is the online world, folks. We are all friends here. Admittedly, some are better friends than others but c'mon, you wanna have a tussle over stuff here?

As I grow older, I realize more and more that life is harsh. Friends are not easy to make and even more difficult to keep. But really, arguing over stuff which happens in the online world and have it affect real-world friendships is just messed up.

I'm not Rex and I have no clue over what had happened so obviously, my comments/thoughts are my own but I've learned to forgive and forget. Perhaps that's a better approach to take. Life is way too short otherwise.

Again, I'm not speaking about any particular debacle but rather that friends should learn to look beyond silly mishaps, misunderstandings and miscommunications.

Good reminder, DS. Thanks... sorry, I went OT. Just had to voice my 2cents.

This is Golf Republic, not Toonshouse. I don't think it's appropriate to compare one with the other, especially for those (myself included) who never really had a home at Toonshouse. It's also inappropriate given that the admin/mods here have worked hard/are working hard/will continue to work hard to build an online golfing community which is distinct and unique.

Yes, some similarities may exist between Golf Republic and other forums. But, this does not mean that one follows the other or is intended to. If anything, I hope that Golf Republic brings the best of Toonshouse across and combines it with other admirable and commendable qualities such that it attracts golfers from all over to participate.

In short, I don't miss Toonshouse. Perhaps I may have if I had spent more time there but I didn't. So, I can't say too much about my experience.

What I do know is that Golf Republic is intended to a new golfing forum, and what you take away from it stems from what you put into it.

I admit that I am one of those who voted Yes in this subject. There was a time not too long ago, where people dont take into their hearts or mind on each debate, where folks in T-Hse have a slightly more sense of humor and forgiveness in them.

But a pass is a pass. Just let it go and we will sleep better each night.

Ha,

Thanks TS.

Wat you read is what u see folks. Nothing else transpired.

Simply put, I'm not the type who is 'You are either with us or against us' kind of person. Its the blind support that concerns me. By supporting an action of causing unrest to the forum out of 'boredom' is just plain wrong, whether you are 'friends' or not.

If its now so misguided that it appears all the hoopla is actually the mods fault, I think a reality check is required.

Like what MT mimics, - we dun wanna go down the same route again.

Thanks all, moving on.

Actually, this thread is for people to reminisce about the good times in Toonshouse... strangely...there are more posts from the moderators/admin than member... this is really uniquely GR...

i think thats always the case in every other thread.. mod/admin are quite fast and a lot to share on GR forum. Smile

I still visit toonshouse every now and then but i see this msg all the time..
"We regret to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, and to prevent anonymous users from abusing the site. This board will remain offline until further notice."

I hope GR will be healthy and strong so that we do not get out of control and do not have anonymous users abuse GR site and stay online as long as we could.. Smile
