Hi fellow pros,

I'm new to golf, i have 2 other friend who are keen to pick up this sport.

Is there any good and reasonable priced academy/coach to recommend?

Regards,
Kenji

If u stay near west, can try my coach Dean Tan at Warren CC. He can be reach at 91112831, currently he's at Bintan for competition.
Took my PC and HCP with him, friendly and patience guy.

Hi Kenjiross,

Welcome to Golf Republic.

Do have a look at http://www.golfcentral.asia/beginner-golf-lessons-singapore/

It has special beginner golf packages starting as low as $180 for group lessons. 4 Locations to choose from.

Cheers
Sam

Thanks guys, you are awesome! My friends and i live in the central/east area. Can't wait to see more sharing from other GR friends.

I was just wondering, as a beginner, what type of basic gear (driver, shoes, acc...) should i get ready?

Kenjiross,

The order should be:

1) Enroll lessons (I recommend jhan at Seletar)
2) Let pro assess you and recommend type of clubs
3) Get used at GR or FESC or Creative Golf
4) Enjoy the game

I'll quote DGman here: "Play with freedom".
If you think about it, golf is the only sport where the ball lies still. There is nobody blocking you.. no ball rushing towards ur ribcage.. no hurry (relatively) to execute a stroke.. and still most of us finding golf the most difficult comapre dto baseball, cricket, football etc.. it's because we all overthink. the distance between the tee and the flag is the same as the distance between your 2 ears..

Its not abt fretting over the degree of the driver. its more about recognizing the bird that was singing when you where walking over the small wooden bridge next to the tranquil lake smelling fresh grass on a beautiful day. Get the drift?

If you are in Central, try Toa Payoh driving range. They have good pros too.

Yup, lessons first. Try to get some good 2nd hand clubs in decent shape to begin with...then as you improve you can make your own choices.

What you need apart from clubs are balls, wooden/plastic tees (varying lengths), gloves, shoes and attire...which you can get in any course/range shops.

I've been hitting in one of the indoor places just to get my swing consistency i.e. hitting 20 consequtive balls from the same club to land in the same distance/direction. Hard work  Sad

Thanks guys, i am considering picking up golf on my own first as my friends are taking their time. I'm trying to keep my cost low as a start, for coaching 1-1, can the golfing bros here recommend a good coach, location in NE, East or Central are fine. Budget (all in) looking not more than $300.

1-1 is never cheap. $300 maybe u can get you 3 lessons only maybe even less depending on where and who u go. Central only got mbgc, ne u might wanna take a look at occ as for the east side now I guess only Nsrcc left.

I would recommend Dino Kwek at punggol range. Nice person to work with.
