Again, it's a case willing seller, willing buyer, so no regret. It's ethically wrong only when 2 parties agreed on a price, and then one party backs out with all kinds of excuses, either seller or buyer.
Agree with your comments bro. cheers
Just my thought, if u wanna make a profit, don't sell here, sell outside to places like FESC or some other webs. Making profit out kakis here it's show that you are not here to make friends, just here take advantage of people.
Agree also with this comment. Can buy here but cannot sell here at higher price. If want to sell higher, sell elsewhere. But well, you know there are all sorts of people in this world.

Agree!

IMHO, im sure most GRians will know the market value of our ever-depreciating weapons. It's a buyer's market here. So hard for profiteers to earn a living here!

I think the people who tried to profit from other GRers here are rare. So there should be no worries about it happening on a big scale. If such behaviour is disallowed, maybe a notice should be put up to discourage would-be buyers from profiting from others' loss in this forum.

It does state so under the rules and regulations of this forum.
After all, this forum is meant to be a friendly gathering place for golfers, not for anyone to profit from.

bros, low ballers may not be the worst breed/bunch. what irks me more is after agreeing to a price and fixed time to transact...guess what? the bugger doesnt show up even after messaging him reminders, there was complete silence!! no reply no nothing.

its not even about trading that matters cos i can understand buyer's remorse or they found a better bargain or whatever but not to even hv the courtesy & decency to inform me and let me wait for over an hour! this is the worst kind of people & i hv no respect for them.

To be fair, I have bgt and sold many stuff on this forum to feed my equipment whoring addiction but I have not met such a person yet. Guess these are few and far between.

This is why the 50 posts minimum matters.

Why else does 50 min post matters?

Golf is a gentleman's game. If I give you my word that I will buy, generally you can expect a gentleman's agreement and the transaction will be done. As mentioned above, 99% of the buy/sell I have done are done on gentleman's agreement over sms/whatsapp/pm.

However, I have met the odd few whom I have asked to reserve and pick up at a later date, the seller can say, "Reserve must put deposit". Well, to be fair, nothing to stop the seller from asking. But for me, you can go fly kite. To ask for deposit means that you yourself must also have the tendency to fly aeroplane and thats why you cannot trust others and have to ask for deposit.

50 quality posts in this forum means that you are serious abt your membership here and serious members won't screw other forum members in the buy/sell transactions. Its not a perfect measure but it beats having no criteria and fake goods can transact.

"Reserved must put deposit"

If disagree with request for deposit, just tell the seller you disagree with the request. I can understand the seller's reason for requesting for deposit. When reserving an item, it means that the item is already sold to the person who reserved it. But what is to prevent the potential buyer from backing out? Isn't he depriving the seller of selling the item to someone genuinely interested in it? But, of course, seller can tell the potential buyer that who reserved the item that it will be based on first come first serve.

Seller has the right to request for deposit. Potential buyer also has the right to turn down the request. Simple as that. But asking seller to fly kite is a bit strong to use, in my humble opinion. There is no necessity to be upset about the request. Beer

No lah. I did not tell seller to go fly kite. I told myself that the seller can go fly kite. I can use harsh thoughts in my mind but what comes out of my mouth was different lah.  Very Happy

Actually I don't see the need for deposit lor. You can always tell the potential buyer if someone agreed with the price and come out with the cash 1st he/she will have it.

Willing buyer, willing seller.

If it's OK for a buyer to ask if a $100 item can be sold for $30, it's equally OK for the seller to ignore the question.

And, while I've stated that I will ignore low-ballers, I've rarely ignored anyone. I just politely say that the item cannot be sold for that price and that's that.

But I do agree that what irks me more are buyers who commit to buying and then back off at the last minute, especially if they do so without notice or any apology. Bastards.

Sometimes is not buyer want to low ball, but seller don't know market price.
For example: someone selling a head for say $100 while the whole club could be bought at joe at say $100 or lower.

True that the $100 might only be a fraction of what the seller has paid, but equipment prices do drop a lot and there might be cheaper alternative which are just as good

My 2 cents

Why ppl low ball was during the early days our grand parent were poor,
they can hardly afford luxury thing, therefore when opportunity arises,
they would bargain till the cows come down.

So I guess today modern young ppl bargain is because they have got the
grandma gene in them.. so I would say they behave like our Grand ma or Grand auntie!!

Basically they are opportunistic people without dignity!

Human nature to bargain, if price offered not right, just said "No". No need to get too emotional or start making statement just to bring pple down. If really can't take all these as part of parcel of being a seller, then trade elsewhere. Life stress enough, no point getting stress with all these.

Like. Someone who has common sense  Very Happy .

Wonder why people (sellers) get angry when people ask for cheaper price. You mean these same sellers never go out and bargain before meh? Always pay asking price meh?

The worst kind of lowballers are the sarcastic lowballers who cannot take rejection and will send a few more messages to seller to tell seller how unrealistic his/her price is and that he can get a brand new set for x dollars and yours is not new (even though it is unused) or fault about the warranty or whatever.  For such buyers, I will simply ignore.  Period.

I am sure all of you came across the sarcastic lowballers heh!

A out of topic thing, people talk about lowballers, what about those who put up price and then they raise the price later???

Personally, I think this is as bad as any lowballers.
