If it is done unto others, other balls may come around and hit those who deliberatly choose this path. It is good to practice safe play...

If ever I am invited to play in Warren GC, I might just as well wear a bicycle helmet  Arrow ....

Very dangerous play. Why should there be warning shots? Slow play?
This is not the job of the flight behind but the marshal's.

Shocking that anyone would consider this normal....in KL, my club issues an automatic suspension to anyone hitting into the flight in front as long as a complaint is lodged...of course, you have the right to a hearing with the disciplinary sub-comm....but this is a strong deterrent against dangerous play...

Mind you this is in m'sia....a place where the rule of law barely exists....surprisingly, it is enforced as I know a few who have been suspended because of this.......

so all visitors to my homeland better keep in mind that you can buy a kopi driving license, you may be able to bribe a policeman, and if the urge suddenly arises you can even blow up your girlfriend (as long as as it has been approved in accordance with the delegation of authority matrix)...but if you do something serious like hit into the front flight, the respective authorities will come down hard on you......this means YOU, derek......

Best post for a while!

I will brave these shots with you.

When our next game? Hehe

hmmm ... interesting ... does this "delegation of authority matrix" approval scope cover blowing up your spouse???

I did think of kicking it into the river beside. But i thought maybe it was a freak shot, and kept my cool. I don't like to lose my temper and affect the mood of my flight....

Sometimes, I wonder why some golfers seem to be always in a hurry, so what u fired a shot near the front flight, you still need to wait for the front flight to clear the the green after putting before you can take the next one. So why not take your time......

Also the front flight should always take note of their pace, are they too slow, if they are try to speed up a bit. I seen some golfers playing on courses, take their own sweet time playing second then third shot walk to buggy change clubs then walk to and flo, waste time waste energy. Can't the players take a few more clubs with them and possible walk up to the green, surely walking that much won't kill u.

But what if you are taking your 2nd shot in a par 5.. and you are 260m out? Normal shot is to layup to 80-90m with a 5w..but for some reason.. wind blow.. low spin.. high launch.. reach the green in 2. That to me is a freak shot.

These ppl need to learn to play ready golf. My personal take is that you have to be ready to play the moment its your turn.

For me as long as I am not in front of the person flight path, I would be near my ball.. doing all my pre-shot routine... (of cos dun do it while your flight mates are taking their shot).. then when its my turn.. walk up to the ball and hit a top/duff/slice... etc.

fully agree with you....I would rather just wait till the front flight clears the green, then I take my tee shot...
otherwise, you would be waiting for the ppl in front the whole time....

Don't know if I am right, but I always use this method to determine safe distance.

Par 3 hole = 1 stroke on + 2 putt
Par 4 hole = 2 strokes on + 2 putt
Par 5 hole = 3 strokes on + 2 putt

(mis-shots aside) I feel that the safe distance should always be 2 strokes on fairway. So in a Par-4 hole, we can tee-off when the front flight is on the green...and never tee-off in a Par-3 hole until the front flight leaves the green (no matter how pro/sux you are).

Generally I follow the same rule. Unless u are a big hitter.. one ON for a short par 4.

Agree, however, even for par 3, it is best that the golfers move off, I have experience ball gone way wards when we are going towards the buggies, and back flight think they must have been from korea PGA.

I think best rule of thumb is keep pace with group in front. To wait for a 2 stroke difference to way too long, know your distances. If everyone did this then 6 hour rounds would be the norm.

My take is always play when they are out of range.. and when in doubt.. use range finder to beam them... dun have range finder.. dun play the shot until you really know that they are out of range. agreed that 2 stroke is way too long. Flight should keep up with the front.

example.. Par 3.. ready to play when the front have cleared the green and drove off.

Par 4.. ready to tee off when front moved towards the green.. and take your 2nd shot when they have cleared the green and into their buggy. Short par 4.. wait till they have cleared the green and into their buggy and they drive off

Par 5.. tee off when they are taking their third shot... and take 2nd shot when they reached the green (given that you are not 2 on) and third shot when they have cleared the green, and into their buggy and they drive off.

actually all quite common sense....if you are lining up your shot, you see someone in front and you think you may possibly reach him. Hold off the shot and wait a while.
That 1 minute wait or so may just spare you a shouting match with golfers and potentially compensation.

My frnd was hit on the left eye when we r in a indoor range. Nearly blind but thnks god slowly recovering. Undergo 3 ops n given up golf now

Change my prospective on golf completely. Now if theres a tree in front i'l shift the ball.

We only have 2 eye but many yrs to go in golf rite  Face Hug
