PostSubject: Rangefinders - Bushnell vs Nikon   Mon Aug 25, 2014 8:42 am

Hi everyone,

Would like to consult GRians on choice of rangefinders (with slope function)...basically am trying to decide between these 2:

(1) Bushnell V3 Slope Edition
(2) Nikon Coolshot AS

Any users out there with experience with either of these? Assuming I can get both at the same price, which would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

For me.. the Bushnell vibration pin seeker is a good feature. At least you know that it has locked on something vertical... and it is something I find very useful.

I'm using v2 slope. vibration not needed, use common sense and RF for precision works best. Was in SF last week and it was going for 2xx+ USD, SG probably 30-40% more.

Thanks for the replies, appreciate it.

Wouldn't mind the Leupold but seems like it's pricier (online) than Bushnell / Nikon.

dont forget bushnell z6 JOLT (for asia only slope edition).
I will buy this bushnell anytime, when pit it against any other models (other than gx4i-2 which is pretty much in the same league).

I have the Bushnell V3 Tour non-Slope Edition & I've compared it to the new Z6.

The readings in Z6 are in Red LCD, suppose to be better than V3 Grey LCD during low light conditions.
Z6 is also slightly smaller & lighter than the V3 but its top button is "Harder" to press, doesn't give "good feedback".
The button on V3 have more "depth" & gives better feel.

I personally prefer Bushnell V3 over Z6 for ease of use.

Using v3 wo slope (was told it's not legal). It's pretty good, no complaint at all. Jolt feature is quite a good addition.

Z6 with 6x zoom makes it more shakier ...

i personally prefer V3 which is at 5x zoom, good enough for me

If you are so bothered by the fact that slope edition rf cannot be used in tourney, go for leupold gx4i-2 which slope function can be switched off to enable its use in tourney.

Someone had posted a Bushnell z6 tour for $480 yesterday evening. Here is the link - http://golfsite.sg/ads/bushnell-z6-tour-for-sale/

Well in that case I would certainly say overpriced for second hand goods. However, this is Singapore and everything always seems to be more expensive than anywhere else Wink

Sigh ... unfortunately so especially when it comes to golf equipment.

Singapore is considered one of the most expensive city in Asia (maybe the world!)

Not true guys. taxi service for our quality of roads is one of the cheapest in the world.
used golf equipment has consistently surprised me with our singapore prices. Also, now ,thanks to golf direct, new equipment prices for many top end  drivers and irons are cheaper than usa, japan and even fakes in China.

Beg to differ - taxis are not cheap when you include all the crazy surcharges even if you can get one (which is a big challenge in itself. Sometimes it feels like those bargain sale - good price but always sold out). Try HK - taxis are plentiful, no surcharges and affordable. Even in NY taxis are plentiful and not that ex! I know as I just spent a month!

Bangkok - reasonably price, available everywhere. Traffic jam is not the fault of the taxis!

Shanghai - Tokyo (short distance is not ex) - ... should I go on?

I think we are getting off topic and that is a dangerously political question. Let's stick with rangefinders!

Prices of golf equipment was high until competition forced the retailer to be more realistic. Consumers should also learn to be smarter in their buying ... counter check prices with other countries like US or UK.

I have both. Nikon AS is smaller and easier to use. Bushnell is able to acquire pin faster and jolt is good to indicate that the distance has been acquired. Good luck.

No worries. One guy brought one at Alan Photo in SimLim and gave a good report so I brought it to test. At that time,my V3slope was in USA Service Centre. Chose what you like. Cheers.
