I currently have the Callaway Razr Hybrid 4 and 5. Love the forgiveness of the the clubs and have been looking for a 6H but it seems like none of the shops carry it.

Any brother know if any shop carries it?

I found I was more consistent choking down on the 5 hybrid to play 6 hybrid distance. The club is a life saver. Don't think I will need a 6 iron ever again.

I'm not surprised ~ good to work around the greens with imagination. Have you tried the Callaway X2 Hot…?? Seems like GF will be making a switch to that club…

I toyed with the X Hot hybrid and could not tahan the it's super off set face angle, any idea if the X2 has a similar face angle…??

Nope. That was a 9 iron. What did u use from 140 out to put it 3 feet from the pin. Lucky u give hand and "missed " the birdie putt.  Whew.

I would think a 6H loft is about 27*. This means that it could be the same loft as your 6I or 7I depending on your set. A hybrid shaft length tends to be longer so you may see more distance although the loft may be the same. What is key then is making sure the distance gaping is appropriate. You do not want to end up having a 6H that is a few metres further than your 6/7I.

A bit off topic ... but it does link to why social golfers could benefit from hybrids

I have an old Titleist 704 CB iron set where the 7i (measured) is 36deg, the 6 iron is 32deg and the 5 iron is 28deg ... I can actually use the 6 iron from the set and about 50/50 with the 5 iron

In my miura and tourstage irons, 7i is 34deg, 6 iron is 30deg and 5 iron is 26deg (i think) ... I do not use 5 irons from either of these at all

In my BFG, 7i is 33deg, 6i is 29deg (i think) and I do not even bother to know what the 5i loft is ... 6 iron is at the limit of what I can use (helps that the head design is friendlier than the miura)

For me, for irons, the limit of loft seems to be about 28-29 deg.  Anything less and I am definitely better off with a hybrid.  Around 28 deg, I am probably better off with a hybrid but I stick the 6 iron (or 5 iron if using the titleist set) in because I still hope that with enough practice, I will be able to use it 1 day.  Also, off the tee (for mid-length par 3s), I can still strike the ball decently with the 28-29deg iron.

If you are using an iron set whereby your 7i is in the 27-28deg range, it should not be a surprise that you are struggling with any club longer than that.  Especially if you are reading books from 20 years from famous golfers, the drills they are asking you to do with a 7i will be more comparable with the 9i in your set.

Do not get too put off with the number or think that using a 6 hybrid means that you are a lousy golfer.  Look at the lofts in your irons and honestly determine at which point (which iron) you know in your heart you can't pull off the shot.  The loft of that iron is the one to start looking at a replacement.

Sometimes it is not about which club goes longer ... chances are on a good shot, both iron and hybrid will end up about the same distance.  It is about which club gives you tighter average dispersion (left/right AND long/short).  As someone who does not strike the ball very consistently, I appreciate that mishits with a hybrid are less punishing than mishits with a mid-long iron.

Once upon a time, when I was a good golfer, my best scores were achieved with 3 hybrids in the bag, 19deg, 25deg, 28deg and my irons stopped at 7i (34 deg). However, it is worthwhile to note that we often fit for irons and drivers, but less often for woods and hybrids.  Finding the right type of hybrid for you is just as important as iron and wedge fitting, so take the time to look around for the right one, it took me a while as well and I traded or gave away many hybrids in the process.

27-28 deg hybrids are not really common stock items.  It took me a while to find mine (old model Tourstage VIQ with NSPro 850R) so probably best bet is 2nd hand shops.  Good luck!
