PostSubject: Golfing in Sunshine Coast, Australia   Fri Apr 24, 2015 3:46 pm

Hi,
I am going for June family vacation in GC/Sunshine Coast. I am toying with the crazy idea of "sneaking" out early morning (first tee) for a 18 hole game while everyone is still sleeping. In fact I already booked an apartment next to a golf course. I just have not proceeded to book the tee time and club rental.
Anyone can advise if this is a good idea.....eh having to rent clubs, playing alone.......etc etc etc.

Love to hear your comments. Thank you.

Cheers

Winter can be pretty crazy there in the mornings especially on the coast. You can try.. but u will definitely need hand warmers and a good wind breaker. It gets very windy in the mornings.. Cold and windy.

I would honestly rather stay in the hotel with the heater on than go out at first light LOL. If you do try, share the experience When ur back. heheh!

Haha. Thanks.
I checked weather forecast. It's about 20 deg in early June-beginning of winter. Backside very itchy to try.

Weather will be fantastic if you tee off about 7.30am. Sun is usually up earlier in winter but still can be chilly, something which you will not experience in Singapore. A good warm up is definitely recommended. As for rental of clubs, depending on what course you go, clubs may not always be in good condition.

I am back from my vacation in Brisbane/Sunshine Coast/Gold Coast. No regrets from trying out my one man - tee off.

Golf Course: Twin Waters GC @ Sunshine Coast
Damage: Rented a set of executive clubs for AUD50 (the normal clubs are kinda old). Green fees AUD59. Booked a 6.30am tee time since it was a little dark at 6am.

Thereafter it was just me, the birds, the ducks and lots of kangaroos for 18 holes. It was chilling in the morning. Wind condition wasnt that bad that day, hence it was quite comfortable for me. No sweat. In fact I had to take out one layer of clothes after 3 holes.

I will post some pics when convenient. Cheers.

Here's some pictures:

1. View of clubhouse (left) and range (right) at 6.30am.

2. First tee. Par 5. 501m. Yay, I am so used to "meters".

3. It rained last night. Now I have blue skies reflected from the puddle of water.

4. Kangaroos greeted me all the way! They are not that shy.

5. This one stayed next to the flag throughout. No sign of leaving when I walked up to putt. Luckily I didnt hit it when playing my approach Smile

6. This is me! I took a screenshot from video recorded by placing my HP on floor.

I thoroughly enjoyed the "quickie" Very Happy

Going forward, I am definitely going to plan in such manner - ie intentionally picked an apartment in a golf course or next to golf course for such family vacation.

Places like Australia and New Zealand should be suitable. Cheers.
