Clearly agree with you in this shorthitter..

How often do we head back to tee box when we realise that our ball is lost in the jungle?
And how many strokes do we add if we just play on from where the ball was lost.
But the question here is that pros have ball spotters which gives them advantage over us in terms of lost ball.....

Most often than not our ball moves slightly when we address to hit a shot or on the putting green..
But we never call penalty on ourselves...

Guess our scores are never a true reflection on how we play the game.

I guess it all boils down to your own play. If you feel happy and satisfied with your game, how you play it is your concern.

u cant afford to go back to yr original position to play...except tee a PB if unsure....but if u screw up a few holes, u will see the marshal as if they r yr shadows...

We're not pro competing in a competition or something that really will cost us thousands or millions...

Going back to the tee box is rather impossible to take another shot, wherever I play (here, JB, or Indonesia)...

Anyone really do that here in Singapore without being scolded by the marshalls ?

tht's y SG is not really a place for beginners or even those season players to enjoy the game at a comfortable pace.... sometimes when i look at the "time schedule" at the buggy, it seems like they expect all 4 players are single HCP on a good day..... Embarassed crazy....

So it brings me back to my orginal post, if I was playing soccer and used my hands, or I was within 10 metres of the goal and I just picked up the ball and said "Thats good its a gimme" is that the same game... I am not playing for millions as stated above, but now the game has changed..... Laughing

all the new 'rules' is to save time and get the game flowing.

gimme = assume all will sink the putt within 1 putter length so time is not wasted lining up the putts....i have seen 4 'pros' taking more than 10 minutes to finish putting (each of them at least 3 putt minimum). gimme better if mutually agreed in larger friendly competitions if have lots of flight. else just line up and putt within 20-30 sec. end of the day, see ball drop in hole also a bit shiok

missing ball = drop and take 2 strokes penalty (use to take 1 stroke but decide to play as close to the rule as possible). The flight behind will curse u when they see you driving back and retake your shot. Also since i alway drive 250m++, its a hassle to drive back so far and tee off again Razz (i wish)

This is why I carry an M24 Browning in my bag. Fits nicely in the umbrella. I can deal with rain, but I hate slow play.

Look at it from another perspective... if they are not honest golfing, how are they in business?? If your business relies on people you know take an 8 on a hole but write 5 then what are they are they doing behind your back?

I bet u will be pissed off if the flight in front comes back to tee off again. Even more it they do it a few times.

We should get ppl to hit their provisional ball if they lose sight of their ball and is close to the rough, even if they think its in the fairway. We all love our drivers anyway so hitting it 2x as many times on the course is a bonus Smile

sometimes driving back is dangerous cause the flight behind may think you have moved on, then as they hit their ball, they suddenly see ur buggy driving back.

Best compromise, make them drop the ball in that crappy location since balls are mostly lost in the rough or behind trees and make them take 2 stroke penalty. If they re-hit, worst case, same position (ok worst is OB or lost again), alternately they may hit a wondrous shot and be better off + they slow the game and possible piss off the flight behind + possible safety issues. Then next hole make the hit PB.

Life should be like this...smiling back flight, welcoming us to re-TEE, and offer icey cold 100+ at TEE box....
Everyone is not in hurry, really honor the game rules, back flight has no questions asked about re-TEEing...

When can we have a world like this....

SH, if i can offer another observation, we all know the speed limit on the highway is 90km/h n the express lane is used for overtaking, but i find myself driving on the express lane most of the time n in those instances more than 100km/h, i know the laws, but i break them n will try to cheat the system......what would that make me, would that mean i am not honest n not an ideal business partner

anybody here that dun have a heavy foot

this is where my perception differ, which of cos u are entitled to yours, i guess the environment we grow up in dictates how we percieve things, ppl, life etc Very Happy

anyway, if i am unssure that i might not find my ball, there are 2 things i will do:
1) go n hit a Pball
2) if u know the rules n course well enough, declare at the tee-box, ball "could be" in the hazard, i might lose a stroke but not the distance Very Happy

same as the 5 min rule....most casual player will not spend 5 mins looking for the ball, it slows down the game cause for many 'less experienced' players, its every other hole, so the shortest 'rule' is look for a min or 2, cannot find...drop ball and take 2 strokes penalty. If we take the whole 5 min to look for ball, cannot find, then go back and re-hit..its will be a 10 min ++ extra wait for the flight behind.

I don't no your business ethics so I cannot comment, my observation was that if you (and I dont mean you personally) take shortcuts in games... (and on the road that can lead to much worse consaquences than a bad score) then do people cut corners in business....

I have turned students away and I have refunded money and told students never to come back.... Thats my business etihic, I wont just take someones money just to make money... which is why I am poor... Sad

I have played with one of the richest (if not the richest) man in the world, and I kept his score, if he had a 9 I wrote it down, and yes my livelihood was on the line if he got p*****D, Very Happy but if he took a 9....... I am not going to put 5! Wink

And no I would not be annoyed if someone came back to the tee and rehit, it actually happens a lot....

Realistically I dont care how you guys play golf, it does not affect me in the least.... unless we are playing together and gambling! lol!

It brings me back to my question... if we were playing soccer and I cheated would you get P****D?
