http://www.freecaddie.com

Tried it out today on my Windows Mobile phone today. It was able to lock on to the GPS satellites quite fast and took about 5 seconds to get a rather stable reading. Even though the phone was left on the buggy and not moving, the reading will change and deviate by +-3 metres. I compared the reading to the distance marking on the tee box and it was quite accurate.

Almost all of Singapore and some Malaysia courses are available for download on their website. Funny thing is though I search "Singapore", some Malaysia courses turned up in the search result.

The FREE version only give reading to the front, centre and back of the green. You can pay US14.95 (~S$20) to get extra features such as score keeping and distance measurement. To me, the FREE version is good enough. Only thing is to remember to charge the phone fully. After awhile, the novelty wears off and I cannot be bothered to check the distance.

They have a version for almost all mobile phones, be it iphone, windows mobile, android, etc. Since it is FREE, have fun trying it out.

guys

I have used this program since beta0.1, in my opinion, it's worth every penny thus I have a Pro version. There is a free version to try out but for a mere US15, u get the Pro version with so much more functions (track scores/stats, distance to hazards/bunkers/end of dog leg, measure length of shots (take the guess work out and know exactly how far your long drives are) etc etc)

if can get 10 to sign up the Pro version, and I'll get some money off for you guys. How about US5 discount as a starter?

as for comparison, it's much easier and less time consuming than laser rangefinders. One glance and u know how far to hit and not to mention it;s inexpensive.

Thanks guys for the heads up. Got it installed on my Omnia II. The gps update is fast. As far as accuracy is concern, only tried it on the executive course today. Not tat accurate unfortunately. Will have to test it on a proper course. Since it is free, do give it a go cheers!

There is no need to keep the phone on all the time. It takes about 5 seconds to get a stable reading, so just turn on when you are about to reach your tee box or ball.

They have a Java version, so that should work for almost all phones.

If it is US$10, I dun mind paying Very Happy

Guys,

You might want to try out tee-to-green apps which I find more useful.
It inform you abt the distance for the respective 18 holes and more....

Also, try EEZ-read which is a clinometer that could aid you in your putting (it will show a bubble in the reading to tell you if the lie is inclining left or right) - this is interesting and supposed to put on the putting green in front hole to make your read your putt better.

Cheers..
