Enjoyment? No man, it's an alternative to hiking, considering how often I find myself in thick grass, trees and sand Razz

I'm a sucker for punishment

I dun know about the nationality/race and I am not bothered lah. But i just wonder why people cannot comment on a sale. Like siaw's post on the irons for sale and someone deleted SS post. Previously, i remembered you commenting on the MX300 that someone was selling. Nevertheless, its already been deleted i think.

I think golf forum should allow somebody to comment on a sales thread. If there is too much crap on the sales thread, the author should come in and say something lah, not the mods. If too much crap will take up server's space, then might as well take away those thread that got no relation to golf, like "get into the ring" and " actually, i also damn biased"

Hi Shotah,

We do allow comments pertaining to the sales such as enquiries etc.

The reason why we do not want people to start chatting on the sales chat is some may make use of it in a deliberate attempt to bump the threads and make the whole forum like a classified.

We are however trying to relax on the rules if we can see that it is not due to deliberate bumpings but a couple of forum members seems to be very angry that we do not enforce the rules strictly.

Thus our marketplace moderators have no choice but to monitor them more dilligently. But as you know, this is not their day job, we cannot expect them to be monitoring the forum every single moment to keep it neat and tidy.

I hope this clarifies our stand.

Hi Sunny,

No offense here. I do not understand how a few members can be so influential. As you have once said before, it is impossible to please everyone. Does it mean that if a few member say that they do not like certain mod, you are going to remove them? No right? Hope you get the drift.

Actually only now I realized that my comment on the ikasu's in being a good set of irons has been deleted, and Yes, I am a little upset.

I looked at other for sale threads. http://www.golfrepublic.org/marketplace-f8/wts-used-adams-pro-gold-hybrid-20-t3441.htm
and I see non-sale related comments still there? e.g "I been using it for almost a year. One of the best hybrid around" ????

What gives?

Having read this. I can't help but feel that i am either targetted or the mod in the market place is not doing his/her job.

It's a fact and is sharing that with fellow GRs a problem with you? Did I pit the foreigners against the locals? No, I have no problem with the foreign players. All i said was the different levels of treatment by the marshall. What's wrong with that?

On the subject of sensitivity:

No where in my post did I mentioned about race, religion, culture or politics. So what so sensitive about my post?

TLHENG,

I agree with you and thats the reason y i commented. You are merely saying that the marshalls are practising double standards and in no way did you pit foreigners vs locals. Geezz

Caucasians are a race. Enough on this issue. Move along please.

If that was the case, I'd be long gone.

It's not a question of being so influential. Rather, it's about trying to take into consideration the thoughts and opinions of members. Good suggestions and constructive criticism are always welcomed.

It's not the same to post an observation (e.g. i saw a marshal being nice to a korean but they were mean to Singaporeans), but it is not right to generalize --

e.g. marshals at MBGC treat [insert nationality here] better than [insert nationality here] unless that is a FACT, that ALL marshals there behave that way

e.g. koreans are slow players. That is not a fact -- not all Koreans are slow players, and I have met several here who play pretty quick, and if I catch up, they are usually nice enough to let me pass.

Anyway, people judge us by how we conduct ourselves and how effectively we communicate our opinions crafts that perception. I'm sure some people 'don't mean it that way', but if that's how people are able to misperceive the content, then it says something about communication skills.

i think arguments and bickering are fine...its a forum..if everything was non-confrontational or not up for discussion, there wouldn't be much life in the forum..

sometimes we got to let pple rant, argue and vent their frustrations, as long as its not taken to a personal level where name calling, or other behaviour which is not tolerable is involved.

we are all individuals and have our own point of view, some have strong opinions and are more upfront about it in the forum.

dont make matters like this personal.

Funny, when people in overseas forums generalize Singaporeans, we feel offended, yet we do the same in Singapore forums and think it's fine. Not how I'd run the shop, but not my forum, I'm just here to chat about golf Smile

Hi ghoonk,

Not meant to quarrel with you. Just want to share opinion.

To me, this is similar to people saying that SIA girls typically treat Ang Mo better than Singaporean - a typical comment found in many forums. In fact, people (at least people that i know) just laugh it off nowadays saying "No choice, who ask ang mo tua kee" when they hear about this. Anyway, to me, this is a small issue. Just dun understand why THLENG's remark prompted a response from the mod.

PEACE.

Dunno. THLENG is THLENG's quarrel with the mods. I'm not taking any sides, just trying to take an objective perspective.

Now, whether SQ girls DO treat westerners (I loathe to use the racial term Ang Mo, just as much as I dislike being called a chink by the British or Australians) better or not is not mine to comment. I have been treated well, and I fly SQ on all my trips to and from Singapore (around 6 times a year, between Dubai and Singapore), and do not notice any discrimination.

I do note that they treat people who treat them with respect differently from people who treat them like waitresses or servants. That's not a racial or cultural thing, it's just common decency.

If there's anything I've learned from being away from home (Singapore), people are people. Doesn't matter what colour you are, which god you pray to, treat everyone equally and with respect. We reap what we sow. Smile

facts are formed from the perception of many

"fact" = Titleist brand are for better players
"fact" = SC putters will make u putt better
"fact" = new drivers have more technology = can hit further and straighter
"fact" = Nike Golf will never have made it without TW
"fact" = watchin MW hit a 300 yard drive is sexier than anything in golf (including AR)
"fact" = every golfer in the front flight is slow and every golfer in the flight behind is fast

wrong.

def: a concept whose truth can be proved; "scientific hypotheses are not facts"

ergo, that many people perceive it as such as does not make it fact. Centuries ago, everyone believed the world to be flat. That did not make it fact. It has been PROVEN that the world is, in fact, round (not 100% round, but you get my point), not flat as was widely BELIEVED

That I BELIEVE that I am a better golfer than Phil Mickelson does not make it a FACT. That everyone in this forum BELIEVES that I am a better golfer than Phil Mickelson still does not make it a fact. That everyone in Singapore BELIEVES that I am a better golfer than Phil Mickelson still does not make it a fact.

That I actually beat Phil Mickelson in a round of golf means that I beat him in a round of golf, does not mean that I am a better golfer. TW is a better golfer than Phil since he has more wins and Majors, but that doesn't make him a better husband or father.

fact = something which perceived to be true
Scientific fact = as what u mentioned

that's why the media have to use the words 'scientific fact' instead of just 'fact' cause these days everything have to be scientifically proven for ppl to accept it. . The word 'fact' has been used in a totally different context nowdays.

There is no difference between SCIENTIFIC FACT and FACT. Facts are facts.

There is perception, e.g. DGman is damn yan dao
There is fact, e.g. DGman is a male.

Perception is NOT fact.

Please look up the definition of FACT. If you are saying that there is a difference between FACT and SCIENTIFIC FACT, please provide your reference

Or in the words of Wikipedia, [citation needed]
