PostSubject: I really regret using KBS shafts   Wed Jan 20, 2010 3:35 am

Got KBS shafts on my Miura MB-5003s and after having used them for several rounds and going back to my usual sets with the Project X shafts, the sets with the PX shafts feel so harsh. My Cleveland CG1s with the S300s feel even more harsh Sad

Fellow GRians, beware KBS shafts, they feel so good that you will feel compelled to switch to them from whatever you are using now... you have been warned!!!

I have KBS 5.5 now on my mizunos but DG S300s in my wedges.

You are right about other shafts feeling harsh after going the KBS route. The smoothness is something not replicated by others.

i did actually contemplate on using KBS shafts. but i tend to stick to my irons more than anything as I see them as fairly important and the beauty of it all is that i am already very used to the combination and I do not see the need to change them.

the closet time i ever came to changing those shafts was when i notice little rusts spots and dots on the shafts. being the vain golfer that i am, i thought of changing my shafts just for getting rid of the rust altogether, but that is not a permanent solution. it also wasn't easy finding the exact same shafts now that True Temper has bought over Project X.

anyway... guess which shaft i will change to next once my PX is gone?

no wonder i am constantly out of stock....

just shafted at least 7 sets in the past week. now i know someone who will ask to change the PX 5.5 to the KBS.

kenneth, next time you post such thread, please check if i got stock or not.

Finally it gives me great pleasure to say this....MC NO STOCK!

of course the shaft will not correct a bad swing. and feel is always subjective. all said and done, do your due diligence and test all the shafts before you make your choice.

what work for others may not work for you.

Judging by what i see on Asia Tour, it has captured the hearts of a lot of tour players in a very short time.

It wun cure an over-the-top swing nor a shank or duffs but if you are the type that can strike the ball decently, you should feel some difference from the rest of the shafts.

aloyboy,

What i have learnt recently is that no equipment can/will cure a bad swing.

As for KBS shaft, there are alot of good reviews both locally and in US golf forums. Despite having said this, please note that one man's meat maybe another man's poison.

Best is that you pay a clubfitter (ie BFG) a visit and try it personally.

actually i was not referring to MC when i said the above...i have several sets in stock but i will like you to try the satin pX5.5 first and compare ti to the Ikasu on the KBS s-flex.

There is a Tour 90 version where the R is 95g and the stiff is 100g.

I think KBS will not be under the category of 'lightweight shafts'.

Aftermarket shafts for irons will have different weight options. Fitting is not done with 1 standard weight and different flexes.

Alvin,

There is no 'lighter/heavier is better' theory. Everyone swings differently and the trick is finding out what is supposed to suit you... and the way to find out is to go for a thorough clubfitting session.
