Just KBS-ed my new 09 Vokeys last week. Nice to match up the wedge shafts with the iron set again.

Will be ordering their new Hi Rev shafts to try it in the CC wedges. Suppose to give extra spin to the lack of spin faces.

hi S70B, may I know why you chose to use the new grooves? practicing for the US open qualification? Cool I saw your other thread about reducing backspin, has the v grooves helped?

No la. This is a classic case of me being 'backside itchy' lol!

I wanted to see what the pros are gonna be dealing with this year and I can tell it really makes a big diff in those short shots. They are flying higher but definitely runs out more. It also eliminates your variety of shots you can play.

It may be till 2024 before all has to switch but I'm bracing for what might happen in 2014 when it will be for bigger amateur events like Singapore Amateur or something similar where they might be likely to adopt USGA standards. Heck, even Keppel's monthly medals also disallow the use of range finders and gps so I'm not surprised if we move in that direction.

Pros are very likely to adapt faster becos they are more talented. Mortals like us might need months or even a year to play back the same standard we are accustomed to with the new change in equipment.

I have since purchased and switched back to a new set of 09 SM vokeys already. I miss my spin. Of course, I will switch it back and forth just to see if I can manage it properly. I have also somewhat eliminated my 'problem' with a different way of hitting the ball and also to use more club than required.
