| Hi,
Is the previous model of AP2 groove conforming? If it is not, how will it affect me as a non-pro, non amateur golfer? Will I get disqualified for playing in my Club's Monthly Medal?
How about Sembawang Open that my club host? Will I be DQ? |

| I think the groove issue will only affect the Professionals... For us amateurs, i think it will affect us only in 2024 |

| Mengteck,
Both DGman and Jon are 100% right.
All generations of AP2 irons have conforming grooves. The change in groove rule does not effect most amateur club play till 2024.
This link gives a nice simply summary on timing.

Good luck with your upcoming competitions.

| OB a bit......come 2024, would organizers for amateur competitions go to the full extent of checks on players' irons/wedges grooves? Last I saw from another thread here (some pro tournament in asia), seems that lots of time and equipment are needed to check for conforming grooves. |

Hi Mengteck,
You are ok to use the current groove wedge all the way up until 2024 unless you play in a professional event or a major amateur event that adopts the Condition of Competition rule. We do not expect any major amateur events to do this until 2014 and that includes events in SEA.
We will sell the current groove only to the end of this year and must stop shipping to stores from 1st Jan 2011. After such time we will sell the CC wedge which will be the same shape as the wedges you have now just with conforming grooves. So those players that buy now or have pre-2011 wedges will have a spin advantage.
Hopefully that all makes sense. In short, enjoy your clubs, they are all fine to use.
