jsmooth, my pro ask me to have a more complete back-swing instead of my current half swing.
After a few weeks, now I am having pain in the neck and numb on my left hand.
What do you think have gone wrong.

Its tough to say unless i was to see you swing. I think what you do have is tight muscles in your neck and with your new longer swing you have aggravated these muscles and possibly pinched a nerve which has causing the numb sensation in your hand. Proper warm up and some basic nech stretches will help. If it continues please consult with a physiotherapist.

Hi all. Am new to this forum. I was taught a simple n effective method to deal witn tennis or golf elbow. I thot i would share with u guys

!) Take number of rubber bands ( number depends on the tension tat u wish to achieve )
2) Put the rubber bands at the mid joint of the fingers
3) Using the strenght of yr fingers, try to open n close yr hands with the rubber bands around the fingers.
4) U need to feel the tension as u try to open n close yr fingers with the rubber bands around yr fingers. The more rubber bands u placed on yr finger, u will requireto use more strength to open n close yr fingers. This will strength the tendons, thereby reducing tennis or golf elbows
5) Do this exercise few times a day.

This was taught to me by someone who seek professional help on tennis elbow. Recently, i taught my colleague who is an avid tennis player n he finds this exercise to be effctive fr his tennis elbow. Hope this helps

First thing is welcome to GR. Second, is , while you put the rubber bands on the middle joints of the affected hand, where will the other end of the rubber band be? IN the other hand and pull against the affected hand is it? I can't figure it out. Another elaboration? Tks.

I would like to add my vote to the suggestion of using Penetrex -- http://www.penetrex.com/ -- to treat golfers elbow and/or tennis elbow, etc. I have been using the product for a couple of years on and off and have found it to be extraordinarily effective. Fortunately, I only require it a few times a month these days and I'm actually using it more for my arthritic knees than my elbows. I usually pick up 3 jars since they offer worldwide free shipping (including singapore) on orders of 3 jars or more. Just my 2 cents...

Brother golf-viper, if you have been following the thread or previous one, we also have been advising people to use Penetrex. Read the full thread.

just curious.... what so good abt penetrex? is it another 'deep heat'? and what is the price comparison like?

would it be effective for minor sprains etc?

I think he means wrap rubber band around the fingers? then try to open..

like those grip strengthening exercises.

I've tried penetrex.. so-so, not sure if it's effective. I also have thera-band flexbar and a lot of other rubbish.. hahaha

It's very dependable on which medication is best for each individual.
IMHO, it that's works for you it's gd enough and also kind of all to share their experience rather than hard selling.

Hi Sunny, here is the web page for you to refer.

http://www.penetrex.com/

http://www.golfers-elbow.com/index.htm

A bottle will cost you about $40.00. Buying more will be cheaper. But most people will just order one to try it out.. Of course group buy will be cheaper. However, should you want to try out just 1 bottle, let me know. I have a couple of extra bottles and will let go at $35 each. If you want, I will bring it down on Wed night. It is not only restricted to elbow pains but also
(taken from Penetres website)

" Pain Relief You Can Rely On!

Penetrex offers temporary relief of minor aches and pains related to:

Back, Shoulder, and Neck strains

Ankle, Knee, Hip and Elbow joint discomfort

Muscle sprains and strains

Additionally, Penetrex can provide temporary relief from pain associated with:

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome • Tennis Elbow • Golfer's Elbow • Tendonitis • Bursitis • Arthritis • Plantar Fasciitis "

Hope this helps.

I find that in order for it be effective, you must rub/massage it onto the elbow where the pain is for at least 3 -4 times a day for at least 1 week. If just massage once a day, definitely it is a waste of the cream and your time. After 1 week, I am sure you will find that the condition improves. If one can compliment it with this gadget call Band-It elbow brace, it will surely help in the recovery much better. Or at least make th epain tolerable and can continue to play golf anytime you want. In my case, if I don't have this 2 items, I won't be able to play the 3 games at Bintang Lagoon ha ha. And I don't feel any effects at all. Not one bit. Just voicing my personal thought on this. I may sound like the 'koyok' man or like what Slinger said, 'snake oil' man ahhahahahahhah lol! But what i have just said is true but for those die hards who must have their golf fix, whether their elbow hurts or not, my advice is get the Band-It elbow brace and you can play as much as you like.

Dear Bros & Sis,

Just my 2 cents worth on Nursing care on Treatment for Tennis Elbow:

- rest the injuired part

- avoid carrying heavy loads

- take painkillers / anti-inflammatory drugs eg. Ponstan / Dicolfenac with anti-inflammation effect for reducing the inflammed area and swell area whereby our naked eye cant see it

- Splints to keep the elbow and forearm fixed in a resting position. Suggest put on elbow guard

- Ice or heat application for pain relief)

- office personnel do take note of your posture when using PC or Laptops as WRONG POSTURE may further aggravate of the injuired part (tendons)

- refer this website "http://www.tennis-elbow-treatments.com/pages/tennis_elbow_exercise.php" for enhance and strengthen your injuired area

Hope the above infos are helpful to speed up the recovery and back to golfing soonest! Cheers!

Hi bro, good advice for those suffering for the first time. It is those whose suffering which had become chronic that is the real problem. All those advices ' being there and done that '. Now it is either the last resort of going for operation or keep on suffering the pain daily. Every day simple activities like brushing teeth, putting on your tie, tie shoe lace, bathing,......
you feel the torturing pain. I experienced all that in the past when I had severe chronic pain so much so that i could not tolerate it anymore that I finally resort to surgery. It takes more than 6 months to rehabilitate and recover. But now my left arm is affected by golfers elbow. But with th ePenetrex and elbow brace, it makes life much more enduring and I can continue to enjoy my game of golf.
