Me and a bunch of buddies (6 total) are trying to find a course to play in JB on Sat. Mostly 21-24HCP, which course would you recommend?

Poker: I think Ponderosa would be the best bet. I hear the Carlsberg lady's not bad too. ;-)

Hi Poker, firstly welcome to GR. I would not recommend Palm Villa, not this time around. Lately the greens there are crap. Ponderosa or Horizon Hills will be good. Enjoy your stay here.

P.S. Like your avatar... look so cool Cool

Ponderosa is rather strict on handicap, so if you don't have one, don't try your luck going there and find out you can't play. Even on timing. My friend and I went there once, walk in, and their last morning Tee off is 9.30 am. We were there at 9.40am. They refused to allow us to play. Nobody playing on the course as far as I can tell. Thats how sticky they are with rules. This is a member course so they can choose to be that stringent. Just for info.

PS And this was on a weekday.

Palm villa. For the price, I can live with the condition of the green. Very Happy

for hi capper try Legends Palmer-Nicklaus combo. I just played Sunday. Relatively easy, course rating from the white tee is only 69, Slope 126. Not long. Fairways are dry though not bald. Condition at Nicklaus' 9 is better than Palmer's. Palmer's green is dry but not as dry/bald as Palm Villa. Palm Villa got better fairway, but its green is just atrocious at the moment.

The Legend ... but i think 250 Rm for Morning Saturday ... legend wide fairway , green abt 8.2 to 8.5 .... the distance a bit long ....

i think quiet easy as its hard to lose ball exept 2 - 3 hole where water very near

Palm Villa is pretty good, on a couple of holes you can borrow the adjacent fairway ... bunkers are not that bad to negotiate and course is quite short from white tee

however I must agree the greens now are really really bad ...

Daiman is best I would suggest.
Course of cos not soo good condition but bery cheap.

Best of all, Morning game is always so relax there..
not many golfers in the morning. You can hit 2, 3, 4 or 5 shots.. no problem.
No stress at all.
(i think this is the best that a beginner can wish for... nobody rushing you behind..)

IMO, dont go to Austin Hill & Horizon Hill.
Austin uphill approach is demoralising.
Horizon is full of water everywhere almost every hole... Make sure you bring more balls if you wana try.. Very Happy

i would suggest that for ppl with high hcp, they should try orchard. the fairway is pretty wide so no issue. i played at orchard when i was practising for my handicap.

for daiman, there are several holes where the fairway is tight. could very easily stray over to the next fairway or even the green. not good for ppl who have wayward shots. just played there last weekend.
