PostSubject: Injuries   Thu Jun 17, 2010 10:37 pm

Not too serious. But I have hurt myself twice since last week.
First, it's the right arm. I think I might have strained it while doing the back swing (I just can't get the arms to swing backkkkk arghhhhhhh).

Now, it's the 3rd and 4th fingers on the left hand.
I woke up feeling numb on my left hand for the past 2 days. Crying or Very sad
Shall see what happens tomorrow before seeing the sinsei.

Aiyooo .. I am not a xiaojie leh.
But why do I keep "injuring" myself? pig

My friend told me to see the doc before I find myself in too much pain that I can no longer play golf. The thought of it almost killed me!!! (nahhh .... I'm exaggerating ..hahaha)
But it seriously woke me up lorrr... better take good care of myself.

You people too okay!!!

Cheers~ flower

Sorry to hear of your injuries. May I know how long have you been playing golf ? I would suggest to conduct a doctor straight away and do not wait any longer. Better rest until you are totally recovered after go back to golf again.

If you are a beginner, I would suggest to have a proper lessons from a pro. If you have been playing for sometime than you might have change your swings or trying to swing to hard for distance, did not warm up before your round or driving range .. holding your club too tight may be some of the reason .. Do not listen to me but go see a doctor tomorrow.

some guru told me "Get fit to play golf, not play golf to get fit."

fingers numb probably because u are gripping too hard, u can use those finger grippers to train hand strength. arms ache or strain may be over exert, lactic acid build up or lack of flexibility issues. U can try stretching lightly everyday to increase flexibility and alleviate the pain.

and most importantly, rest...rest is so that you can come back to the game faster and not have to sit out for longer.

Agree with eiji on rest. I was trying to do 4 times a week of range with 120 balls min to 160 balls. End up i get sore fingers and my arms aren't giving me the strength i need to control the club which ended up causing my swing to be off and topping very often and causing my hands to become slightly injured too.

Now i make sure i get one day rest at least, end up i get better control and also better swing and no problems on my sore fingers too after i grip lightly and adequate rest. Take care fellow newbie. Dun end the game before we begin. Smile

Learning golf for more than a month.
Yup, learning from a pro.

I guess you are right. Must really do warm-up exercises before swing swing!!

I'm better already. Skipped class this week. Rested enough le.

Golfjoy, strongly suggest you let it rest and recover first. I had wrist injuries from golf, laid off for awhile and started hitting balls again. Not a good idea, since my injuries came back fast.

Continued to see my sinsei till I was reasonably cured then I could play again. What he said was right, if I feel it coming on better go see him, don't wait or in his words "peanut become walnut, then walnut become coconut".

When you are better, practice in moderation and correctly or you'll just end up the same again. Many golfers here can attest to that. Some look like the bionic man when they play cos got brace here and bandage there. No joke ok?

I suggest you do putting, sharpen that area while you rest.

injury could also be from wrong technique. even strong athletes with strong bodies get injured due to twisted joints, slip of foot, over strain.. etc.. just a simple mistake could cause an injury.

pulled muscles and sprained joints can become acute and come back everytime you play.
watch out.

meanwhile enjoy WATCHING other people at the range.. lol!

Well if you really want you can still go thru the setup and swing without the clubs. Looking at your knees and other parts which you usually neglect due to the club in your hands. Also one more thing you can do.

COME TO SSN.

Aural's suggestion is a good one. Practice your swing at home with the aid of a full length mirror. It's the cheapest teacher around. Pause at different points of your backswing and check your positions, feel the position, ingrain it, and you will find it miraculous when you finally get out on the range. It's like you have been practicing all the time when you were away. Even running your perfect swing through your mind repeatedly is a subliminal form of practice that can work wonders. It's visualisation, running a movie of yourself playing a shot, seeing every detail from how your strike the ball, to it's flight, to exactly where it lands taking one hop then stop beside the hole. First made famous by the Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus.

Try it... might ease your boredom. The bonus is the eventual benefits are tangible.

Can hold an umbrella and hold it short. Even if you do a back and full swing you won't hit the floor. But if hold that also affects ur hand better hands off that too. I practice sometimes with my brolly. Lol.
