PostSubject: 3rd Party Service/Repair for Mac   Thu Jul 01, 2010 12:13 am

Hi Bros and Sistas,
Anybody knows anyone who does repair/service for MAC?

My bloody mac mini cannot boot and I think the OS got corrupted. Tried re-installing 3 - 4 times but still fail. Went to epiCentre and just to check, they want to charge some serious $$$

Thanks in advance

Forget about going to any authorized macshop. Cos at the first sign of faults, they will just decide to change your main board for at least $1700, and that's just to swap. I am a Mac user and a apple fan, and if anything is a deal breaker, this lousy Mac support in sg will.

Duval I share yr frustration. Same thing happened to me 3 mths back.
No chance of recovery so ended up buying iMac. And they charge lots of $$$ for data recovery from my crashed iBook.
@Jon tlk, any contact for data recovery?

i don't rely on the Mac support team as they will most likely send you on the merry go round and offer little assurance.

when the harddisk is dying, everything slows down. then when it conks, you are in trouble.

but no worries, i know an experienced repair guy who used to work in Apple and will tell you straight if it can be fixed and at what price.

usually, in this scenario, he takes your hard disk apart, backs up the info on his tan chia hard disk saver then re-install them on a new hard-disk (which he will quote and buy for you, let him make a few dollars for his effort).

More importantly, he will also reinstalled all your key programs. the most crucial part of in my ibook has always reside in the Entourage and even that was saved, imported and reinstalled. when i got my recovered ibook, it looks like nothing has happened, the storage had doubled and i was like $350 poorer from the experience. Not bad considering i did not have to leave my office. everything was collect and deliver.

of course with the new time machine, it ensures that data can be backed up more efficiently.
