How can I 'join in' the fun while others play? Question
Am I allowed to follow a flight as a spectator? Laughing
I saw this 'spectator fee' thingy while checking on the rates for Laguna Bintan.

I had my first game at Legends and the longest club in my bag is a 3 iron. First tee off and I launch it nicely..... but the ball start steering right and disappear...

So just go and play... but prepare to lose balls

It is always difficult to get things going from the start, because you look around and see others who are hitting the ball with seemingly little effort as you struggle with trying just to make the ball airborne...

Stick to a regime that you feel comfortable with... nothing beats practice and more practice. Don't have to wait till got kaki then go range... set some short terms targets to gauge your progress...

keep the hardwork going and don't give up halfway and you should find yourself hitting balls off the mat in no time! Smile

ermm... actually you can. But dun expect par scores..

Let say a typical par 4 around 400m. If your 7 irons goes 130m.. you take 3 stroke to reach near green and a PW to chip/pitch and if chipping/pitching accurate 1 putt. thats 5 strokes.. bogey.

If you par on all par 3s.. becos you 7 iron and a chip and 1 putt.. take double for par 5s.. you end up with a high 90s score. Very good liao.

everyone of us start from somewhere. so don't hesitate, just grab the clubs and head out to the course. cheers

who cares if my 7-iron can only hit 80m and under?

the most important thing is to observe basic golf etiquette la.

if got flight behind sending "friendly" missile over, (just grab their balls and throw it into the rough) Ooops, sorry, I mean wave them on and let them overtake lor. ha ha

if lost ball, cannot find in 5min, add one stroke and play on.

if double par liao, just pick up the darn ball, curse your club loudly and proceed on to the next hole.

I have gone to Palm Villa (cheapest) with a friend who just practiced at the range and only gave him a 7 iron and PW and putter. He scored par at par 3 and got bogey at par 4. End of the day, it was the fun and fellowship that really mattered. My friend was anxious about going to course with me but I told him at the end of the day hero at range may mean zero out on the course. I still believe in practice nevertheless, but we practice to see ourselves at the course good putt

Rolling Eyes When I played golf with my friends, we used to say to each other when we see good long drives... " its not about the drive its about the arrive".. therefor if you cannot arrive just pick up the ball and approach the green.. Wink just kidding... usually no spectator allowed, unless u pay as player.

Bomby, high 90s. Every shot and chip u describe I suppose must be clean and sweet from different lies. Clean shots throughout 18holes, 1 chip 1 putt??? This dream scenario for social golfer may need at least 2 years of practise.

Golfjoy, go practise with a 5wd. If u can hit 7i 130m, 5wd may giv u at least 170m (provided u r consistent), a reasonable distance for T shot. U may consider working on swing and hitting balls sweet and straight 1st. Dont bother about the scores and distance. U will enjoy golf more when every t-shot is confidently straight and the approach shot is lethal.

Must start thinking positive.... positive thoughts and planning course management very important in a game. Razz actually based on the scoring i described.. it should be 90. High 90s is with the margin of errors.

Also must pray pray a bit as well for luck... cheers

agreed with everyone.
Just play...

It's fun playing with good friends..
Just have fun...

For a start, mayb no need so serious about score.
And seriously, just use 7iron and above, can give you decent score.
Probably even better than some people who can "use" driver. (but frequently OB)

for me so far, more experience on the course can increase confidence & familiarity which will contribute very much to your improvement in future.

Finally, JUST ENJOY & LAUGH AT ONE ANOTHER LA!
