Really!??
Btw, what is the minimum no. of ball to start a flight? 2 can? hehehe Rolling Eyes

I'll PM u once I've learned putting!!! Alternatively, u let me pick up the ball and throw into the hole lor!? clown

I think in Johor so far they never mind anything in how many to form a flight i usually goes in 2-3. In Mandai 2 also can 1 ball also can play liao. I haven even really learnt putting, only practice with a putting mat and never really understood how to read a green. But more important is have fun.

P.S my first 18 hole started at 11am and ended at 7 pm What a Face

go try Mandai Executive Course or NSRCC Mickey Mouse Course fisrt before going to Palm Villa or any JB course.

The 9-hole Par 3 courses are easier and you can gauge for yourself if you are ready for the full 18-holes...

My 1 cent worth

Cheers

I agree. Mandai was my first time i had a feel of how a course is like. The only downside is the condition of the course but then to me a beginner it does not make a difference. Now my routine is range at OCC / Sin Ming. Before going to a course i will head down to Turf city range to hit from the grass then finally head down to a course Laughing

Good to see so many newbies raring to go. Smile

As the more senior have suggested, hit the par 3 executive courses first to get a good feel of the game, especially your putting.

Less stress for you as well since you don't have to deal with impatient and more seasoned golfers piling up behind on a full 18 hole course.

When you feel you are ready to go for a full 18 hole round, I suggest you have a more seasoned golfer accompany so you can learn the proper etiquette as well as tips and tricks to the game. Bear in mind that when you hit a full 18 hole course the first time, it's like a driver with a new licence just hitting the road for the first time, very very stressful. It helps to have the guidance of seniors.

Quick courtesy tip - always look behind to see who's coming up, and if are they right up your behind, let them pass and play through. Do it every time a flight catches up with yours. You won't feel so pressured and won't have to rush to keep ahead.

Didn't know this 'call for help' can cause quite a 'stir'.Laughing

Will take my time to read all the replies. But really really appreciate all for your kind advices.

Sad to say, I've hurt myself pretty badly this time.
Terrible pain at the spine (is that wat u call it?), about 7cm down from the shoulders... in the middle. And my 2 wrists ... ouch!!

I was thinking if i should go for this week's lesson ... putting.
Seniors, do u think I can go for it? It doesn't involve much swing swing ... should be ok right??

I m so crazy about this sport!!!

wow, with all the injuries mentioned by you, are you sure you were playing golf? Seems like some other sport le

anyways, I think if time permit, you shuold just pop by to talk to your coach on your injury. In that way, he or she will have better visibility of your swing status

Golfjoy, if you carry on like this, you won't be playing golf for much longer I can tell you. You are too intense in your practise. Practising when you are injured is a very very bad idea.
Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong and you need to stop.

I am not mincing my words and telling it to you straight, you carry on like this, you are going to injure yourself permanently, if you haven't already done so. Then no more golf for you!

Better go see a doctor for that pain in your back and hope it's a muscle and not a spine issue. Rest and recuperate if you want to play this game for life.

What birdman said is true. We all have only ONE back. If you injure it permanently, not only no more golf for you, you'll also suffer for other sport.

Golfjoy, u did mention that you have not learnt putting and considering that ur back is sore why don't u concentrate on putting only till it get better. Then u may start again to swing. Why hurry ? Golf is a game u can play for a lifetime and u will need ur back to do it.

When I had a sore back then, it was only putting and a bit of chipping.

Pls be careful and like Birdman and bros mentioned here, u only have 1 back.

Actually thinking back to my days of starting golf, it is good if there is someone already quite provision in the rules of the game to follow you guys out in the green. So that at least he/she can help you with the unspoken rules of golf, so that you do have a good habit.

What that frustrates season golfers is not the skill of the golfers, but its little things like (esp for me)

1) Buggy on track, you take a club go to the ball, then access the situation, need another club, walk back to the buggy and take another club. While the line if forming at the back.

2) Two per buggy, 1 player need to find ball, the other ball is in the fairway, the ball in the fairway park the buggy and wait for the player to find the ball. And if you cannot find the ball in 1-2 mins please drop and carry on.

3) chit chatting on the green, keep trying to chip the ball onto green, but keep hitting it thin. If you are triple par liao, take the ball and go to the next hole.

4) Do not allow fast players at the back to play through.

Joy,

If this pain continues, it'll be no joy with golf any longer. Stop whatever regime you're on before your pain turns chronic. Your injury sounds familiar and I reckon you should be back to normal in 5 - 6 weeks' time with lots of rest - its a muscle & tendon issue.

Experienced the same injury as yourself, maybe you would want to consider consulting a physio or chiropractor. If you are an office bound person - make sure you get up and stretch after 2 consecutive hours in front of the PC. Oh yes, your sitting & sleeping posture also contribute to what you're experiencing as well. Last but not least, stretch every morning when you get up, warm up & down before / after every game ~ stretch, stretch & more stretching......

Hi Vinny,
Actually, I'm already seeing a physio for my lower backache. (now it's above the lower back, below the shoulder)
And I've been doing stretching exercises at my desk (as taught by the therapist).
Also, been going for clinical pilates.

I will be seeing the physio therapist this week. Guess I'll have a good talk to her then.

Thank you
Surprised

joy

try to give golf and urself a break...it is important that you recover from the injury before u start hitting balls again...so be a good girl and listen to your therapist

sometime u might wonder why you cant hit ball well, and it could be because of your injured back...u never know..let it rest and you could play better..sometime the body just need a rest.

when u recover, then jio u for a game in batam...keke
