PostSubject: Head weight   Fri Oct 22, 2010 10:27 am

Hi pros, need your advise / views

Recently I played with my friend's irons...super light and I found that my distance with his clubs are further

so my question is

A) Light head & shaft = faster swing speed = longer distance?

or

B) heavy iron heads = greater MOI = longer distance?

which is correct? A or B?

I agree with Slinger. More often than not, stronger lofts plus the longer shaft lengths of the modern iron are usually the main reason for visibly longer distance.

but if loft and length being equal, which of the above will lead to longer distance?

Any engineers here?

I think Gray here is saying if all things being equal other than the 2 options he named above, which is the more likely reason for longer distance? If that is so, my earlier guess still stands. Where is all the lau chien peh when you needed one ?????? lol! I only qualify for the front part of the lau chien peh or so called old beginner kekekkek ROFL

i think depends on your swing style.
if you are the one leading the club, then it's your speed. Some people like to use the momentum of the downswing (easy swing) and for that one will prefer the heavy head.

So if you have slow swing speed, then a heavy head is better? cos you have higher MOI?

I just like heavier club so that I can move the club along with my body movement on release.

I"m not sure if it helps slow swing speed but I suggest you should try the club out on a driving range (SSN would a great avenue) and feel it yourself if it does helps.
