Previously using 909d2 and my drives were reasonably str8 with the occasional hooks and pulls. But after changing to the supertri and setting the FCT to a closed face ("L"), my shots began to fade and slice alot! I don't tink my swing has changed but I'm suffering loss of distance and plagued by bad slices which I haven had for more than a year!

Could one of the reasons be that a closed face creates more side spin in this situation???

kian, it is the swing.. you may not realise it, but get someone to spot your swing.. your coach maybe?

Why would you put the setting to 'L' when you have been playing a square faced driver for so long? Try setting it to 'N' or even 'NU' and see what difference it makes before seeing a coach.. the answer may be simpler than you think..
For me, I have my Supertri at 'N'. If i change it to 'L', the shots become very erratic..

seems like TFP thinks L setting is screwy.. did you try it in N or NU?

Where are you hitting it on the clubface? If you are hitting more towards the heel, may explain the increase in L-R sidespin

Kian, there are too many assumptions to be made to give you any helpful answers without seeing your swing with both the 909D2 and the SuperTri.

It could be the equipment or it could be you. Or even a combination of both. eg: you're not comfortable with the the way the club sets up or swings, so you subconsciously compensate resulting in disaster.

Best switch back to the 909D2 like Zhenxua says, problem solved without having to think too much. Very Happy

I didn't realise that TM drivers tend to have an open face setup when you thought you have lined it straight until I tried the Titleist D2 at Keppel.

Has changed to Titleist driver since and never looked back...

I used to have this problem too but mine is a bit different.

I had this weak fade problem so I thought that by closing the club face at address will help but it actually turned into a slice, worst than a fade!

I think maybe when we address the club at a closed position, our mind subconsciously adjust it during the down swing which end up in fact hitting the ball with an open face. Suspect

if ur usual misses are pulls and hooks, why do you want to close the club face?

What you can try is to get a frd to adjust the club to different settings and you just hit with it without looking at how the club is set up.... This way you will eliminate your mind trying to do adjustments to get the ball to go straight or where you want the ball to go... after hitting a few shots with different settings, see what is the results from each setting...

Another reason why u start to slice could be because you know the clubface is closed so you hold the clubface open longer

If the FCT of your Supertri is adjusted to 'L' or 'closed' position, it is likely that you will line the clubface as 'squared' position when taking your stance to hit the tee shot resulting in your hands to be more forward pressed. The driver club face should appear a little closed rather than square when lining up for your tee shots. If the face appears to be square from the golfer's view is in fact a open club face hence resulting in fades or even slices. Of course there are other factors as well .....
