PostSubject: Expensive, uncommon but good    Fri Nov 05, 2010 8:28 am

Hi all,

You might think that I have nothing better to do but I need to have some information to answer to Indonesia friend of mine. " Which is the expensive and good brand of golf equipment in the market ". He say he do not want those common brand like TM, Callaway .. etc in the market.

He like it to be unique, well known but uncommon people will use because of it prices. He stress to know on golf clubs, bag, gloves, shoe, belts, golf shirt or pant .. etc. You guess it, he wanted to buy ..

Would you guy give me those brands name and I do a re search on it. Thx

Ikasu irons & wedges
Krank driver
Zen putter

All can be found at BFG. Those are uncommon but they sure are fantastic quality.

Pak, based on my limited knowledge, can try this website, www.tourspecgolf.com for exotic, branded clubs.

For putter wise, I'd say ZEN rocks!

Honma used to be like by Indon.
Especially the 5 star shaft, cost about S$50K a set.
The Generals love to have that sets.
But now it seems to lost it prestige.
However, now the mainland Chinese seem to like it.
I was told, Honma was own by the Chinese.

i have to say that if they really like unique stuff, the ikasu irons and wedges are fantastic... if your indon friend thinks it is too cheap, i'm sure you can ask DGman to get a custom made set for an insane price... haha... but WMF has got it right... the items sold at BFG are extremely rare and limited be it in asia / usa...

make his own irons - his name can be the brand - add diamonds for bling bling factor and platinum for perimeter weighting.

we can design in whatever way he wants using a ready forged cast head.

the cost - US$3500 per head...cost of a set 3i to PW - US$28,000.

we can ask aerotech to make a special gold-fiber - i estimate US$2,500 per shaft. thats another US$20,000.

Gold or platinum ferrule - US$250 each - thats US$2,000

Iomic can put his name on the grips - thats US$80 each - US$640

cost of the set - US$50,640 excluding workmanship and analysis.

For Zen putter - i am sure we can make a putter with Platinum or Gold with diamonds or other precious stones - going by weight its about US$60 per gram. the block starts at 500g or US$30,000...we add US$2500 for setup and milling and the putter should come in at US$38,000 with a crocodile Grip Master and a Hermes quality crocodile headcover. we can do a Rhodium coat to ensure hardness of the putter.

so for 8 pcs of iron and one putter the price tag should round up to US$88,000 or just under S$113,000.

its doable if the guy got this kind of money- delivery time 6 months from time of deposit.

Now we are talking rare!!!!

If this project is a go, I'm in! It should be so much fun designing your own stuffs, although I will hate those bling bling diamonds and gold...

i personally dont think the US$88k clubs will play any better than a well bespoke set..

but you know when you have a lear jet, you just have to be different from the rest of the folks flying commercial out there.

It doesn't play any better physically... But it is a totally different matter if ego is involved. Wink

How about golf apparel, bag .. etc ?

Thx

Hiyah, if the almighty one let me strike half million, I am sure to go down and get ikasu wedges/irons, kajiki shaft, more Zen putter, Win Win bag and more clubs head covers.

Now, gotta head to Yishun blk 102 to buy toto.
