The company website normally has a "specifications" list that will tell you...

Actually it is quite difficult to generalise. For example, Taylormade drivers can use 0.335" or 0.35" tip shafts. The TP series woods usually uses 0.335". After a while, you'll get used to what clubhead needs what shaft tips.

For drivers, it is either 0.335" or 0.35" tip. Hybrids mostly use 0.37", very rarely 0.35", 0.355" or 0.335".

Irons & wedges are either 0.355" taper tip or 0.37" parallel tip. For irons, it is very common for clubmakers to bore out 0.355" hosels into 0.37" hosels. So for irons, unless it is in the original condition, there is no way to tell what shafts are installed until you pull them.

Sometime there is also variations within the same range. It hard to tell. The only ones that I know that has .35 for its wds is probably Cleveland. Best to check the company sites, they should have it listed. If not, then post it here.

Is there a reason for the different hosel sizes?

If you are asking about driver's tip size, I guess it's manufacturing cost...... Rolling Eyes

on adaptors Cobras now using .350, the new Titleist 910 included.

please note my exception clause.

last but not least, most pros and players prefer .335 tip on their drivers because of torque, tip stability and the feel off the smaller diameter tip.
