Liu Xiao Yan is a late starter in the sport and only picked up the game of golf when she was 25 years old!

In 2004 when she began playing she decided that she would give herself three months to see if she was any good. She quickly cut her scores from 100 plus to the 80s, and after six months she dropped her scores into the 70s thanks to the help of her coach Tendy Tsai who still works with her today.

Im 25 years (and many months) old too.. I still have HOPE! Very Happy

hahaha guys, stay on topic.

Anyway, we'll let Tendy himself tell us more about his coaching methodology

A few members here were also his students and can vouch for him

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your warm welcome! I would like to introduce myself and share my experiences in golf coaching.

I am in th golf industry for more than 15 years and my experiences include teaching golf amateurs to tour professional players.

How people learn golf? My concept is simple....we start with:

1) Human (Golfer)
2) Action (SKills)
3) Tools (Golf Clubs)
4) Golf Course

You must have an open mind in order to learn golf in the right way from the beginning.

"I teach students to control the ball and not just to hit the ball."
"I teach students how to play a Golf Game and not just a Golf Swing."

How do you start learning golf?? Please share your experiences.

Another legitimate but ethically questionable way to bring UR official handicap down is to join a golf club and only play on your club's course(s).

Only turn in your best rounds also, and allow for gimmes and mulligans.

If U do this, U will have a low handicap relative to your skill level for your club's course(s)BUT you will not play near your 'club handicap' on unfamiliar courses.

I know (will not name names) a few lady club golfers at very elite golf clubs in Singapore who do this. Some refuse to play on any other golf courses than their own clubs when groups of golfers are participating.

I have a kaki who beats me soundly at his own club, but only beats me by a few strokes when we play on 'neutral ground'--a course which neither of us are too familiar. His handicap is half of mine which he obtained thru submitting cards at his own club only.

He does not submit overseas games--or even games he played badly on his own club's courses!

I submit 95% of all my score cards to SGA (local and overseas)--that's one reason why my handicap never seems to go down.
