PostSubject: Dealing with Low ballers   Tue Nov 30, 2010 9:16 am

Hi all,

To start this thread, i want to extend a big thank you to all the people involved that makes this forum happening. I believe, to my limited knowledge, this is arguable the best place to meet new friends and deal with quality golf items.

From my experiences here, participating in the monthly games and selling some of my items here, i have met many good friends with class, standard and politeness. truely, its a great experience.

I believe that many GRians here also sell their stuffs through this forum and do have the same encounters with me.

There is always a flip side to the coin. Some people who uses this forum thinks that this is a place where we can get a "real bargain".

Well, i will say we do get GREAT offers here through some of the brothers or sisters here when we want to clear unused equipments. Its GREAT because we want to let go of these equipment at reasonable prices.

Having done quite a number of transactions here, i am appalled by some of the users here who treat us like we are "gundos". sometimes, i feel like a tourist going to another country's tourist spot and kana "buaya". i remember being offered $500 Euros for a horse ride in Rome at sistine chapel. hahaha

i hope all the users here to remember to treat each seller with love and respect. Similarly, sellers must also treat your potential customers with love and respect.

Sometimes when it comes to the crunch, of cos, both buyers and sellers are entitled to use their personal course of actions.

sorry for my long thread. if i do encounter unreasonable buyers, i will :

1. Flame politely or ignore
2. Refer them to various golf outlets to check out the prices.

What will you do?

I agree with Duffy. If the offer is too low. Just send a courtesy SMS and say, that the offer is too low. Please offer a more realistic price. If they don't, just ignore it.

That said, I would rather debate with someone over the price than to agree to the price and have the buyer bail on me at the last minute (often after I've turned other more genuine offers down too).

Having dealt in many forums with various items, from car parts, to golf to watches etc..
You have low ballers EVERYWHERE.. there is no way you can avoid them.. maybe if you dun sell anything.. Smile

Anyway, i have learn to live with these ppl, the best way is to ignore them, or to say 'no thanks'

But these still doesnt get to me.
What i hate most are buyers that "agreed" to your price and when you meet to deal, they choot some pattern and nego on the price again.
They will feint memory loss and say, "aye.. i thought.... no leh.. it 50 cheaper then what you say...... i can buy it for 50 cheaper somewhere else..."
honestly.. go yourself and die... (sorry for the strongly worded sentence..)

I believe in karma.. they will get their chance soon enuff..

* not that i have met anyone like that in GR yet*

I'm with you guys on this. Lowballer seemed to discourage sellers from quoting a rock bottom price because some ppl will try to offer an even lower price!

So, if u are a seller and your reserve price is, say, 100; because of lowballers, one have to quote 120 knowing ppl will still bargain. Which is silly but it is a reality.

What is woeful IMHO, is ppl has the cheek to offer, eg 20 for an item quoted for 100. This is not chaktuchak market in bkk! I dun even bargain like that in bkk. But I do know some ppl derive pleasure for squeezing a deal.

Having said that, I've dealt with many nice folks here both on buying and selling capacity

The worst of their kind: some people will bargain you like your stuffs worth nothing (come up with all kinds of excuses), but will ask for such a ridiculous price by the time he/she is selling.
