Hi All,

Have only recently picked up the game of golf after being in Vietnam for 3yrs. Have had lessons at the range reguarly for about 1 month. Never thought I would actually enjoy it. Hoping to go for my handicap test be december. Anyways, I am digressing, just wanted to say hi to everyone and I find this forum very casual yet informative for a total novice.

Hi Sunny,

Based on the info I have gathered till date, I have decided to take my handicap test in Vietnam. Trying to see if I can pull some strings to get a club here in Vietnam to certify me without me joining the club as a member first.

The reason being that I am hardly ever in Singapore as I am based in Ho Chi Min City because of work. Just to be a member of a club to get my handicap certified just does not seem worth it.

PS: Golf in Vietnam is not cheap. 100 balls at the range cost SGD$8. Average green fees for non-memebers are in excess of SGD$150 depending on time and which day.

Hi Techno,

I have only just started lessons at the range. Can only hit 9I about 100 yds +/-. Have not even reach the stage of beginer yet. But if you don't mind playing at the range, we can most certainly meet up. Introduce you to the a new level of service at the golf range you will never see in Singapore.

IF you keen for a round or 2, I can help you to make arrangements.

Nah - just wanted to say hi and stuff. More golf buddies Smile Range also can. I'm not sure when I'll get to visit HCMC next. More often than not, my work takes me to Hanoi instead.

Hanoi??? really really boring place compared to HCMC. Razz IF you ever in HCMC, let me know, would love to meet up and "Talk Shop". May even be able to introduce some contacts to widen your network.

Hi art & sunny,

I posted 9I 100 yds +/-. Forgot to mention most of the time it is minus... Shocked White Flag

I also dont think there are any viets on the tour but I do know there are many players here as it is considered an "elitist" sport due to the cost to not only start but also to buy equipment. So it is an opportuniy for the "Newly Rich" to display their $$$$

EG: Taylor Made Burner Plus Iron set is going for USD$1200 + at retail. NOw they have a sale but it is still going for USD$800

Shocked

i don't think it is that bad...been to HCMC last year and the experience was quite good but was ruined by a small boy who scolded vulgarities at us for not buying his bubblegum but we bought from his sister. Duh....

He was actually quite well dressed so i figured that he wasn't really a beggar. Just spoilt brat.

Now...the kids at cambodia are really nice...

Tell me about it... but what to do... main Vietnam office is in Hanoi. I prefer HCMC though.
