the k is with golfamigo, he's getting it back to the same specs (flex, sw) as the one that was broken. If still cant use, im going back to Eric for trade-in/refitting (so the run-in 70x may be avail at good price..). But the R9460 is surprisingly pretty good, we'll see bro, we'll see

Scotty will be on sale, irons will be changed, adams hybrid will be on sale..

R9460 is definitely a good driver..... i was hitting it far the other time when i was trying to show a friend what was wrong with his swing.. but too bad, its a TM. Smile

after all the side track, lets get back to the question.."Is handicap of 17 considered high?"

to me, i think as social golfer, hc 17 is pretty comfortable.

almost every golfer dream n want to to be a single handicap.

there are a lot of factors that will affect your ability to lower ur hc.

they includes:
1. amount of time u can put in to practice n play games
2. amount of $ u wanna put int golf. someimes it helps....
3. individual physique limitations including age, fitness.
4. Individual talent including mental ability, co-ordination.

I used to take golf v seriously but not anymore.

now, i just play to relax to get away from our hectic working and family routines.

if u think that hc 17 is too high then its up to u to find a gd coach and fix it. many golfers spent several hundreds $ to buy new clubs but they forgot or ignore that clubs change but the golfer didnt. that few hundred $ will reap better benefits if they get a gd coach to tune their swings.

Actually, has someone addressed what the "high" here means?

Is it high as in is it a bad handicap? The answer is subjective. To someone who plays very often, trains hard and focuses a lot of energy on golf, then yes, it is arguably a bad handicap because for the amount of effort poured into the sport, one's handicap should be better. Again, this is subjective and arguable.

Is it high as in is it a good handicap? The answer is also subjective. It is good for those who don't play as often. At 17, the golfer is playing around the high 80s or low 90s which is very respectable. This, again, depends on who you're comparing against.

Agree with TS. 17 is good enough handicap for those who plays once, twice a month. I consider it MID handicap if were talking symantics.

Score variance though is another matter, taking the buayaness aside. Some 17 hcapper play consistently around 90, and some (honestly) play 90 to 105. Bcoz hcap only takes the 20 best scores, the blow out scores dont affect much.

my 2 cents..

not being subjective as I think OP is asking about use of yardstick.
read from PGA or mizuno website or something..

High : 24-16
Mid: 15-10
Low: 7-0
the numbers are not absolute its just a rough number.. because really, no authority on this has really come up and said if you are HCP XX therefore you are High,Mid or Low HCP.

so there you go..

the SBs are solids, the asp beginners are weaks. Is it about mileage or amount of hours played?

how to turn weaks to solid, that deserve another thread.

in most amateur competitions, its quite common that golfers are categorized as follows:

0-9: Division A

10-17: Division B

24-18: Divison C

think this relates to low, mid and high hc.
