PostSubject: Driver and #3FW cannot play on the same day..sad !!   Tue Jan 04, 2011 9:24 am

I have this problem..seeking advise..

I hardly use #3FW on fairwary, most of time only on tee box.
I have this problem :

On some days, I totally cannot handle my driver, when i pull out my #3FW, ball went straight

On some days, when I can tee off with my driver, meaning the ball went straight, decent ball flight, when i pull out my #3FW to tee off, my tee off shot went haywire...

somehow, i notice if i can tee off with driver, my #3FW sucks, if I can tee off with #3FW, my driver sucks....

any pro can offer advise how i can solve this problem ?

thank you

Not a Pro... But my opinion:

1. Think too much
2. Lack of confidence in using the club(s)

Hmmm... Go range and hit towards the targets...
Try to practice hitting your 3W off the deck rather than teeing it up!

Also... It's not about trying to murder the ball... Get your accuracy and confidence first... Then worry bout distance later

ZX... No idea why but maybe sell the 910!!! Haha
Maybe choke down on the club abit more (halfway) and see how...

Worst come to worst... Play a 44" driver like me!!!
Probably lose 5-10m but you gain accuracy

Hi bro

I have my regular range practise twice a week, usually i set 1 day for driver, FW, hybrid practise and 1 day for short iron practise.

just 1 question : if i can hit my 3w of the deck, does that means i should be hitting it better off the tee ?

totally agree with your thought too, confidence and accuracy first, distance later...

For me... I believe that if i can hit it nicely off the deck... Then when i tee it up, its almost
like a ball sitting nicely on the fairway...

Btw, i like to tee my 3W very low... Maybe 1/4 inch from the ground only

if u have a 5w/7w, try hitting the them if it gives a better results......

i seldom use my 3w off the deck, usually off the tee....

i play with my 5w on the fw, which is easier to manage....

hi bro

i usually have my hybrids to do their work on fairway, so far they are ok.

the only problem for teeing off is :
when driver ok, 3w sucks, when 3w ok, driver sucks...
when driver is ok, i know the whole day my driver is gonna be fine, but my 3w will be sucks for the whole day, and vice versa...

Heehee!
Actually on a serious note. I hardly used a 3FW on the tee. (well, I used too, but practicing these two, too much confuses the hell out of me)

I practice alot on driver so I can do well for my tee off. And i will definitely use a hybrid iron or a long iron to manage my course and then use a FW on the fairway..

I hope this mentality helps you.
I have alot of problems, and I am trying to "mind over matter" on what I need to focus whenever I hit the ball.

Good luck and I wish you success in your golf game in 2011.

thanks bro...

i'm lousy using FW on fairway, i rely alot on my hybrid, that could explain why there are only 1 FW in my bag, in which the initial intention for this FW is to substitute driver just in case my driver dun behave that day...keke

wish you all the best too...keke

It is not easy to play FW on Tee. (for me at least)
I prefer to see a big head spanking a small ball. ^^

Tee up and tee down. damn confusing. LOL Stretcher Stretcher

Common, that's the beauty of golf. You wake up everyday swing the same way, but the ball when different ways. You want the ball go left, it goes right. You avoid bunkers, it when in the smallest one. You avoid the water hazzerd and OB stick, it when straight there, and you have hell of the day. You play the same course hundred time, it come out hundred different score combination. Whats more important is remember to enjoy the course scenery, enjoy your buddy accompany, remember to laugh when your buddy shank his shot. Just relex and enjoy the game, prepare for a bad shot is coming ahead, try to recover and safe that hole, don't expect regulation onto every hole and come back with pars and birdies, you will come back with better score.

What is more irritating is that, the harder you try the worst it gets.

Such are the sad tale of golfing but I love it.
