Correct me if I'm wrong, but any natural disaster (an act of God) is not covered by insurance. Oh, war included.

Was about to ask the same...

But maybe hospitalization and medical costs can be claimed if yours is a accident insurance plan (correct me if I am wrong)

But won't their life coverage be in force? I thought as long as the person has a life insurance his family can claim upon their death however the person dies.

Well, they are not typically covered but you can buy policies which do cover such disasters. I think insurance companies have begun offering some coverage against damage to vehicle caused by flooding.

And, I suspect that golfers insurance does cover injury/death from lightning. But this, as always, is policy dependent so best to check your own golf insurance policy terms.

It would be interesting to see what is offered...
Just out of curiosity... If one were to be playing golf and a sudden earthquake were to swallow that person... Is it considered a "Act Of God"? Would the insured be able to claim?

It's hazy, but I remember there being some precedence for why acts of god and wars are not covered by insurance policies, unless specifically bought with heavier loading.

Apparently it has to do with when such natural disasters happened, ie flooding, earthquakes and such, people die in the hundreds to thousands, which in itself is a disaster to insurance companies, they've almost gone out of business. It's almost like everyone withdrawing all their money from a bank at the same time I guess.

Hi,

Yup if the golfer did actually bouht life insurance he will be able to claim from the insurance company.
There is other form of insurance that he can claim from like "personal accident" plan etc....This kind of plan is very cheap to maintain and it covers all kind of accident which is inevitable n unpredictable.

Your golf insurance should cover you wherever you play so long as you make sure that you are registered properly, i.e. your name appears on the registration/payment slip. So, please use your proper name... and in spite of what others may have told you, my name is not Tiger Woods or Tubby.

When you play golf DON"T carry your handphone in your pocket,
b'cos when there's lightning Handphone radio wave, u will be the first
to be strike by Lightning.

Remember the case of 4 Golfers who played at Changi area, the ONE got hit was
carrying a Handphone, the other 3 golfers did not carry HP,
Radio wave transmit electric charge so when there s lightning
it just connect you first!!! Golf shoes with rubber sole does help a little bit,
but when u are teeing off with the driver pointing SKY ward, lightning strike,
driver kanna 1ST! Not first Prize!

Correct me if I am wrong, but precaution is better than regret later.

I don't carry handphone when I play golf, called your frens later from
"missed call" list..yeah!
cheers
