PostSubject: Tennis overgrips on clubs   Tue Jan 25, 2011 10:06 am

Hi pros,

Yesterday at the range I saw this guy with tennis overgrips on his clubs. I chatted him up and got a chance to hold the club (5i). It felt pretty good.

Just wanted to know, is this recommended\allowed?

My diablo edge irons have a pathetic stock grip, so this really interests me!

Thanks

am no pro but i do use a wrap around that i bought from tokyo (victoria golf shop) for my SW. gives more feel and comfort for the chip IMO... maybe you can consider that. it used to be tacky and very 'non-slip', however the tackiness has worn off over the 1year plus since i got it. it still feels good but problem is when it rains - becomes a lil' slippery

hope this helps.

As much i would like to make lots of money selling tennis grips for golf clubs ..

Let me tell u my experience ..

Tennis Grips

Pros
- makes the grips tackier
- cheaper ? around $2.50 a piece

Cons
- Tennis Players do not play in the rain .. therefore tennis grips do not perform in the rain.
- I don't like the overlapping grooves .

Yes my name is Mowen and I run Leisure Sports but I am 2010 Keppel A Div one of the monthly MEDAL winner only ...

simi A div Champion ...

Can advertised my company here or not ... in case any body play tennis here . Super discount ... If price no good ... no need to buy ... Can also jio me for golf and buy stuff cheap ... like what slinger did .. his BandIT super cheap .. cause he chip in Birdie on hole 17 and win my money ...

I used to wrap tennis overgrips on my golf clubs too.... Smile

From your description, I suspect you may actually prefer larger diameter golf grips rather than the "tackiness" of the tennis overgrip. Drop by your clubmaker and ask them to try adding 2-3 layers of tape under the grip to beef it up. Or try their thicker grips just on one club.

Despite many clubfitters measuring my hand and recommending a standard grip size for me, I still prefer having 6 layers of tape under the normal grip. Shocked Laughing (And I only wear a size 21-22 glove! Razz )

Perhaps you should use midsize grips? scratch
