special rules: pls add on

- no GUR will be effective. Penalty one stroke. Drop ball at two club's length no nearer to the hole
- no ready golf (including gimmes). Away players hit first. If a player hit out of turn, opponent may ask ball to be re-hit.
- if give putt, must add one stroke to score (thot this one is understood?!)

Will be refreshing the game rules here shortly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lo-Hei Game Details

Date/Day: 15 Feb 11, Tuesday

Time: 12.57 pm onwards (7 tee off times) Single Barrel from 10th tee.

Tee-Box: Blue tee for men, red tee for ladies

Format of play:

Fourballs Matchplay -
All four players play their own ball throughout; at the end of each hole, the low score between the two partners on each team is that team's score.
For example, Players A and B form one team. On the first hole, A scores a 5, B scores a 6, so the team score is 5 which will be used to fight the other team's best score. Only the best score will be used. The 2nd player's score will NOT be used. That is to say in the event there is a tie e.g. both teams score 5. It will be a draw. There will be no fight between the 2nd pair of scores.

So the two pairings will fight thru out the 18 holes. At the end of the 18 holes, the winning pair gets 2 pts, nil for the losing team and 1 pt each if it ends in a draw.
Accumulate the points for the other 5-6 pairs to determine the eventual winning team.

Special Rule

1) For this game, the local rule of free lift for flower beds at MBGC will NOT apply. That is to say, if a golfer hits the ball into the flower bed, pick up, drop and incur 1 stroke penalty. NO FREE LIFT.

2) No GUR will be effective. Penalty one stroke. Drop ball at two club's length no nearer to the hole (Subject to both Captains' approval)

3) No ready golf (including gimmes). Furthest away players hit first. If a player hit out of turn, opponent may ask ball to be re-hit. (Subject to both Captains' approval)

Wager:

1) Losing Team pays 70% of dinner and Winning Team pays 30%.
That is each losing team member would subsequently pay $41 to the winning team member playing in the same flight. ($41 was calculated as 70% of $58.60 per diner, based on 3 tables of $498 dinner working out to $1,758.43, including GST and service charge.)

2) Code of silence for losing team - haha......personal fave.
Losing team will have to be silent during dinner. Ok, ok, losing party can talk but if halted by winning party, then the losing party gotta hold his peace and suffer the silence. (All part of the wager and fun!)

TD, for GUR rule, means we play as it lies even for GUR?

Eiji bro, that's why this proposed rule by ps and Duval is pending approval by the two Capts.

@ps & Duval, can clarify why?

That's going against the course rules for GUR, and even in competition GURs are respected and free lift is given. Unless its now considered that GUR is a hazard.

Agreed. I, for one, would not want to damage my club lor by playing as it lies in GUR. Hence I play this as pending approval.

and about the ready golf rule, that's just slowing the pace of play, at MBGC no less...unless you want marshalls to chase and harass. I understand if this rule is for greenside putting, we not having the entire course to ourselves, please also be considerate for others.

For this proposed rule, I am assuming it's meant for putting coz gimme was mentioned.

Hmm......Let's wait out for the Capts inputs on these two proposed rules, ok?

Eiji, I got to disagree with you on this. Especially in matchplay. There is a certain tactic and advantage when we dun play ready golf. Will explain to u when I meet u on Sunday.

No Asahi, i understand pending approval, i am putting my case for why this rules should not be allowed, rules are made so that it is fair for all.

as much gamesmanship and competitive spirit there is, please remember this is still a gentleman's game. i see all the trash talk and i think that's fine, because no one has gotten overboard by slurring any personal insults.

I understand the rule about not playing out-of-turn if its applied to around the greens.

tactic is tactic my dear teammate, this is now an imposed rule. You can choose not to play out of turn or wait for your opponent to hit if he is further than you, but if you choose to hit first in turn and put your ball on the green, to put pressure on the opponent its up to you.

no ready golf is actually fair... it does not slow down play significantly.. but of course... players have the prerogative to ask if he/she can hit first even though he/she does not have honour...

Ok ok, I think we the ikan bilis or only me shall keep calm. The captains are playing golf, one finishing and the other having a 3rd lesson with the newbie that needs orientation to the game in the afternoon.

Bros, not my proposal. i was just copying the capt's previous agreement to null the flower beds. I personally disagree with it, but i follow whatever the capt decide.

Do we assume flower beds always equal gur?

PS, I think the flower bed thingy is only fair to people like me who do not have the distance, if u can remember, some of the holes have flower beds near the holes, so for long hitters, they can practically shoot it there and claim a free lift due to the course rule, bear in mind, the ball may not be found. So they get certain advantage. So I hope that clarifies ur concern.
