After the 3rd round of the Asian Tour Q-School, Singaporean and RSS'er Quincy Quek has moved into a Tie for 3rd place. Quincy had a great round of 66 today which included 8 birdies, 9 pars and a double bogey.

Here is What he said after his 3rd round

At only 3 shots behind the leader, lets hope he can do Singapore proud and come home with a victory

Khunal Basin is sitting in 9th place

Nope, he in no a student of the RSS however he has many similarities. I particularly like how he does not clear his hips too fast which increases his arm speed and allows him to SMASH it. Not much lateral movement either!! My students could relate to this. Fast Arms, not fast hips!!

Quincy Quek has gained his full Asian Tour card for 2010. He finished in 11th position at the qualifying school. The top 40 gain a card. Well done QQ and good luck for the season

SPGA January Event - Laguna

RSS'er Scott Barr shot 67 in Round 1 to lead by 2 strokes over Mardam Mamat and Murugiah.
Quincy in 6th place with a 73

My little prodigy Edgar Oh has been playing some great golf. On the weekend the 14 y/o shot a 69 at Warren GC. He flies off to China soon for the HSBC Junior event. Keep your eye on this kid!

RIGHT SIDED DOMINATION AT LAGUNA

Scott Barr and Quincy Quek have taken out 1st and 2nd position at SPGA event at Laguna today.

Scott finished the 36 holes at 5 under par and Quincy in 2nd at 1 under.

Both Scott and Quincy train at the Gary Edwin Academy under my colleague Chris Marriot.

Scott was the winner of this event last year and has successfully defended the title.

Great start to 2010 for the boys

This weeks results

Peter Senior in his first event on the Champions Tour finished T 11th behind Fred Couples. Peter hit 90% of GIR but failed to convert the putts with 33 in the final round

In the Victorian PGA new RS'er Scott Laycock shot 16 under to finish T8th with fellow RS'er Martin Doyle. Scott is the newest pro on board and has had some great results so far

British Open Champion, Ian Baker Finch was recently having some lessons with Gary at the Australian Academy. Turning 50 soon, he is getting ready to play the senior tour. The rumour is that he got down on his hands and knees and begged Gary to be his coach. I will post his video soon

Happy Lunar New Year to All

Paul, I'm a long-distance student of the right-sided swing. Since there are no Edwin-trained instructors here in Toronto, Canada, I'm very grateful for the instruction you offer in this forum. It helps to clarify what I'm learning from the Gary Edwin website.
I'm a bit confused about one comment in the Radius 1 video. You demonstrate correct radius using a swing stick through the strap of an impact bag. You point out the "strong" postion of the left wrist when the club is in the set position (around the 4:50 section of the vid). The left wrist appears to be cupped.
Is it?
Should it be?
How does that jibe with the direction to have a flat left wrist at address and through impact?

Would you please clarify. Thank you.

Welcome to GR edhanna
The flat left wrist is not something we emphasise in the RSS. A flat left wrist at address would be termed a weak grip. The pictures below should give a clearer picture. To simplify, the wrist angles we start with are kept the same throughout the swing. At impact you can see the wrists are as they were at address. If you change your wrists during the swing, i.e flatten it, you will also change the club face angle which will affect the direction on the shot. This is why the correct grip is so important. This is not a "cupped" wrist. Most cupped wrists come from a bad grip to start with. I hope this helps and good luck with the RSS.

National Inter-School Golf Championship 2010

Just got news thru from Sports School student Marc Ong. Today in Round 1 at Marina Bay, the 14 year old Right Sided Swinger recorded an unbelievable round of 67 (5 under par from Blue Tees)

Marc is the defending champion from 2009 and has a 6 stroke lead after day 1. He has recently been selected into the mens national squad as the youngest ever member. Keep an eye out for this boy as he has a very promising future in the game.

It was only 3-4 years ago he was an 18 handicapper. The RSS has taken his game to another level. I am confident he can bring home the trophy tomorrow.

67 off the blues at MBGC is amazing, I agree.

Good luck Marc Ong.
