I read OneAsia's CEO interview on the SG Golfdigest past issue. He mentioned about the need for a premiere tour to showcase Asian golf pro talents to the world. Other tours (incl. AsianTour) worked as partners to feed the players into the premiere tour i.e. OneAsia. Like a playoff system i get it correctly. Ultimately he wants OneAsia to be at par with European & PGA tour.

I dont get it...i thought there's already a Pan Asian tour (ex Pacific) i.e. the Asian Tour? Surely there needs to be better cooperation amongst the tours so as to not compete each other for the sponsors money and player's schedule. But bring why a new tour altogether?

For those inside the ropes or in the know: why did the Aussie, China, Korea and Japan tour chose not to partner with Asian Tour? Is it revenue sharing issues? Scheduling? or why did Asian Tour decide not to join the alliance?

I guess some pros would have less choice now that some tournaments (on either side) are off limits.

Yalor... if I remember correctly, Asian Tour don't allow any of their pros to contest in One Asia tournaments. Pity those pros out to make a living. At the end of the day, it's down to money & power

for those who know better, pls correct me if im wrong.. i recall reading that One Asia was a breakaway faction from Asian Tour cos they did not agree on direction? plus, it seems now that the One Asia events have bigger prize money vs Asian Tour events...

yeah, the One Asia might have bigger purse per event but way way less event. What I read was it was due to direction and of coz money......originally One Asia tot they could basically rope in China , KR and Jpn...but Jpn did not fly, KR kind of pend.....but then Asian Tour form allicance with Europe PGA..to setup a joint organization...and seems to be really taking off.

Again, as in all things, just hope they can combine their strength.....I really like the Asian Tour and the Mercedes Tour ...... really good for the game.....Now, all I need to figure out is how to make it to the Senior tour...sigh

so long as asian tour has the support of Thai PGA and India PGA, they may continue to thrive. Their big guns and upcoming young guns are coming mainly from these two countries.

On OneAsia side: Korea pros mostly stay home, the best ones go straight to the US. Same with Japan. We see Aussie pros go on both tours. So it's probably the next wave of Chinese young golfers that the tour may miss.

If there was a chinese golfer to watch out for, it will be the Floridan Gator Mu Hu.
